Annie's: Superior Service

I want to laud the staff at Annie's Italian restaurant. I frequent the location at Chaoyang Park, and the service is just always great! This makes a real difference with how you feel about a restaurant. They screwed up on my pizza toppings last week and they fixed it fast.

Mega-kudos to Annie's!

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

It's like you have all these pinballs bouncing around inside your skull.

Every once in a while you open your mouth unnecessarily,
and with a dull, uninteresting "bloooop" a rusty, feather encrusted sphere just falls out.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

I've been to the one near CY Park once. It was hard for my girlfriend and I to focus on the food. The table next to us was populated by 4 late teen or early 20-something Chinese students and one older (I'd say mid-50's) flaming queen. The group spent about 45 minutes loudly proclaiming their gayness and discussing various acts they'd like to perform on one another after dinner. Dinner AND a show! The food and service were pretty good too. Smile

Cheers,

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Hey.....what night was that????

Was the 50-something flaming queen a foreigner??

Yup a gen-U-wine lao wai queen. It was about a month and a half ago.

Cheers,

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Surprise surprise.....

Anyway, back to Annie's. I know there is better out there but I always order from them. They are reliable and quick to deliver to my house Smile

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

For delivery of Italian food there's no other option really, why would you not order from Annie's?

It's cheap and good and like Watson said, quick.

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Annie's has nice pasta..... very nice

here's another boring NewJersey/BeiJing comparison, but

I think Beijing's restaurants' pasta generally is trumping NJ's (and this is something we should take very seriously back in Sopranos land where half of us are ItaloAmerican)

but NJ has better pizza... by a lot

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

I finally understand what being 'Glenderful' means.

For us true American Guineas (Tm) there's nothing like Brooklyn pizza/pasta and other Eyetalian food.

good use of "fei hua" (it confused me at first)

yes IMO
Origus, Pizzahut, Pinqi - all kinda blow
Den, The Tree - all pretty nice
Kro's - really nice
but yeah, still miss back home for pizza

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Don't mention Origus in the same category as Pizza Hut.

Pizza Hut is fine, just normal pizza, nothing special but nothing wrong with it.

Origus is tasteless crap, they use barely any tomato sauce and cheese, also they are clueless about toppings, I've seen raisins on pizza there, f-ing raisins.

I refuse to stand by and let Pizza Slut be slandered that way!

Pizza Hut is Pappa Johns bitch.

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Papa Johns pizza is so f-ing awful in Beijing, there are no words. I used to eat it in college, and I don't remember it being so bad. The tomato sauce they use here is sweet enough to make you gag. Their management, wait staff, and comprehension of the english language also leaves much to be desired.

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

who eats IN the restaurant?

Its not fine dining, who cares if the staff speak English? They understand "Texas Heat Pizza" and thats all they need. Pappas is made to be delivered... with its delicious little pepperoncinis and cheesy goodness.

hhmmm pepperoncini.....

sooooo goood!

So I'm an idiot because I ate inside the restaurant once? Touche. No, they don't understand a f-ing thing on the phone either. Thanks for playing.

I speak pretty good mandarin, but my reading sucks. All I want is for them to know the names of the things on their menu.

haha

you're right, pizza slut is a bit better...

back home, i liked it fine actually.. not as good as small places, but pretty good,

but you know, once at Pizza Hut here, they had this smorgasbord Norwegian Fjord pizza with
- bread
- wasabi sauce
- smoked salmon
- some token vegetables

and because I was with my Chinese friend and his gf we ended up ordering it..
i tried it and was henceforth scared...
and it tasted just as weird as it sounded and looked...
it was his gf's idea to order it, and she also became scared too
my friend braved on and finished it...
(he also drinks douzhi 豆汁, that Beijing dofu drink thing that is a liquid version of chou doufu so go figure...)

Re: Annie's: Superior Service

Only a Chinese person would order a Norwegian pizza.

And only a Chinese person could finish one.

Hahaha. Or a Norwegian, I guess. Loads of them in Beijing. LOL.
