i have had 2 over the years. the first one worked great for about a year, which was what the guy said, bc then i needed to change the card which i did not do, pay 1000 kuai etc. the 2nd time i bought one, don't ask, i had all kinds of problems and wanted to kill the guy. and this situation seems pretty common from friends i've talked to. if i were you, i would find someone with a working card and see if they will let you borrow it to see if its the card or your whole system. the 2nd time i got a system, the guy claimed my existing dish was too small, i need to change my box, "the whole network has changed...etc". basically bend over, but what can you do. it's great to have it when it's working.

usually there are about 50 channals, almost every news you can imagine, discovery, nat geo, animal planet, axn, star plus, lots of sports, music, hbo, cinemax, star movies, and some random filipino stuff.

see, we've got a load of foreign channels here. Most utter crap. Even MTV has gone all Hello Kitty weak with love ballads from menstruating mingers.

Though, kudos for the Spanish and Italian channels, the presenters never weat bras.

I'm assuming you got the DreamTV package, right? i thought that it was more along the lines of 2k at the most the dish + setup/install and the first few months of cards.

It might be with DreamTV upgrading their equipment and all the illegal/fake cards and boxes no longer working. Maybe.

I've been quoted 4.500rmb for one year subscription plus box and dish.
