tax help

I'm an American who's in dire need of tax help. I've tried calling some of the big tax services here in Beijing but have been just playing phone tag.

I'm willing to pay for the services of a knowledgeable tax adviser/accountant who is familiar with US tax procedures for American citizens living in China.

Please respond directly to my email: jzheng108@hotmail.com. Please also include your qualifications and rates. Thanks.

Re: tax help

Why don't you just use H&R Block's online services - I think its a few hundred bucks but they can prepare everything for you, including foreign earned income exemptions, foreign tax credits, etc... Also, you could try calling the embassy or going to their website to see if they can assist with finding any reputable accounting firms to help you.

Re: tax help

I would never trust anyone in China to do anything for me correctly.

I concur that a big online outfit is the way to go.

I went and tried the embassy route...they just referred me to the IRS website...probably will give H&R block a shot...or, can anyone refer me to any e-files that support Americans living abroad?

Re: tax help

turbo tax also has an online version. You still have to pay to use the software and to e-file, but they offer all their tools and services of the box version in the online one. I think this will only work if you still have a US credit/debit card.

The IRS website also has a directory of e-file companies that range from low income discounts to international filers to others specializing in high-income filers. Maybe there's something there that will be of help to you.

Good luck!

I heard that with Turbotax you can't file the foreign tax credits/foreign earned exemptions aspect. Is that true?
