145 Bootleg Goods Identified In Beijing's Silk Market
145 Bootleg Goods Identified In Beijing's Silk Market
April 7, 2008
During an inspection on the franchise operation of famous brands at Beijing's Silk Market, Beijing's Chaoyang District Department of Industry and Commerce and the Silk Market's Management Commission jointly identified 145 pieces of counterfeit goods from four sellers.
The law enforcement team checked 79 stalls that sell sportswear and sports shoes and they found that four sellers were selling clothes and shoes branded with Adidas and Nike while they had not received authorization by the manufacturer. BCDDIC confiscated the concerned goods for further appraisal and they said they would punish the sellers once the goods were proven to be fake.
Wang Zili, general manager of Beijing Silk Market, said they would make a three-year plan to straighten out the market and attract sellers who have gained brand franchise rights. The Silk Market has reportedly fired 22 managers for inefficient management on the sellers.

WTF? Only 145? Can't have done a very good job.
Besides, the foreigns like the fake gear. Why would they buy a Gicci bag, a Poma t-shirt or a pair of Nake trainers?
b.s.. Leave 'em alone and f*** IPR. One of the only reasons I satay in China is fake DVDs.

Typical......a 3-year plan, is it really that difficult? I could come up with a 3 hour plan that would route out the fake sh*t. But then again, if there is no fake sh*t, why go to the Silk Market!

1. cancel business visas for foreigners
2. stop the silk market selling fake goods
3. stop drug dealing in sanlitun
4. close inside of Gongti stadium

yeah it will be sh*t.
plus the price of everything going up of course
and they'll never go back to what they were when they realise just what stupid prices some foreigners will pay
maybe there will be a short-term discounted re-opening sale though at SLT, silk market, local DVD shop and hairdressers etc etc just after the Olympics

The reason they sell fake sh*t because the real sh*t is too f*cking expensive so leave silk market and others alone, lets face it bloody Gucci, Levis and the rest of them produce there sh*t for roughly same cost as the fakes but whack high profit on there sh*t!

Re: 145 Bootleg Goods Identified In Beijing's Silk Market
I say leave them alone, there are more important things to worry about than fake purses and shoes.
Maybe 145 means brand names.
I for one, am very happy with my Dike shoes. I don't know if they meant Nike or if if Dike is two real chinese words together (it says 迪?克 inside). Either way, it's fun to have the word dike on my shoes. If it was spelled 'dyke' I'd take them back to the US with me just for fun.
