I was dining at Salt yesterday and the new chef has arrived - any idea where the original chef (Daniel) is opening his place?
Thx, Jane
I heard he is ditching Salt to team up with the manager who got fired from Garden of Delights (as it was making no money) and then tried to open Pacifico - which also went down the toilet. Strange move if you ask me. I think somewhere in Sanlitun or Chaoyang park.
What did you think of the new Chef? Aparantly she is pretty good.
The food was very much the same - all the sous chefs are the same and as she had only been there a week, I guess too soon to make too many changes. Her name is Anna Esteves - she is from Venezuela and she knew Daniel way back when...
@ Ronnie London,
Are you that fat Irish guy who runs the Blu Lobster?
You are a bit quick too quick to knock the competition, aren't you? You have had a go at Le Pre Lenotre, the Legation and now Salt on this forum. Whatever you say about these places, at least they don't slag their competition off while hiding their identities and using the anonymity of a forum like this. Such a brave lad you are!
A bit too quick to praise BL too Bri... I mean Ronnie. You announce all their events, praise their food and then when they rip everyone off, you (unacquainted, you claim, with the management) blame the hotel. Sure aren't you the classy one!
Find sth else to do after work at 2am (that's when you usually post). Cook yourself a nice stew, or you could even learn to write properly and use a few paragraphs.

Oh Gerry how wrong you are.
I knock the other 3 restaurants as I personally don’t think there good, however I do think blu lobster is very good. And I have also praised a lot more then just blu lobster, so please do keep up.
Sorry that my opinion would lead you to think I am hiding behind a false name. Perhaps this is your style?
by the way its 10.30am now just to make sure your keeping a eye on when im writing, I think its cool you are stalking me Gerry, but maybe if its a guy you are after you should be looking in dating section.
Also I hope you can find some money to get a decent meal, maybe you can finally sell that air purifier you are trying to get rid of? Hummmmmmm that should get a nice 20kwai ha ha sad man
Take care Gerry and keep in touch now, you could actually make this site interesting by monitoring everyone’s opinions and views.......
Gerry - I am with you. I gave RL the benefit of the doubt, but have just read back over some of his posts. RL - back to the kitchen for you, stop telling everyone else how crap they are and how brilliant you are.
By the way - went to Salt on the weekend - the food was excellent, even better than before I think - it was super busy, but the service was great and the atmosphere was spot-on. Just goes to show that you don't have to pay a fortune to have a great dining experience in Beijing.
