Chinese Kongfu mmorpg, are you interested in?
Myths & Heros / Phoenix Dynasty Online ... the Role-Play games with setting of Chinese Kongfu world--- Any buddy is interested in them?
Recently, I have accepected a job of translating correlative information of these games, but the terms really mess me up. As a girl who has only played the Sims, this is a real hard job~ If you are willing to give me a hand, please contact me:
Your attention will be highly appreciated!

Chinese or English?
You can try to play other RPG games, like World of Warcraft and Chinese game ( 仙剑奇侠传 ) to get familiar with the program.

Translate Chinese information into English. Thank you all the same.

As long as you provide a description of the term that needs translating, I can probably help you translate the Chinese terms into English MMO terms here and there.
"My title has 'manager' in it."
"And I'm a director. Which on a film set is the highest title there is. Do you know anything about film?"
"I know everything about film. I've seen over 240 of them."

Oh.... I think I've seen this game already.. It's awesome!!! I really like it. It has this Tekken/Street Fighter look, and the game play had i think a team versus..
So you are the one in charge of translating it? Cool!!!

I miss WOW,, I am not gonna start playing it again though,, way too time consuming. I have been looking for alternatives for a couple of months but many mmorpgs won't let you access the English language versions from China and I just can't understand Chinese mmorpgs. Probably for the better.
Has anyone tried LOTRO? Any good? Can you play it from China?

I really don't understand, why they give jobs to people, who a, are not native speakers in the target language, and b, have no experience with the subject.
I'm in the translating business for many, many years now, but still haven't figured out yet, why some companies are willing to accept low quality for the sake of cutting costs. Has quality really lost its appeal?

One could argue that quality lost it's appeal in China a very long time ago. Not me though.

I work the same industry in my home country. And yeah, I agree with what Small Wan just mentioned. Shrine may have played the Sims, but then she is still not considered as a gamer. And true, the games we have usually have funny translations.
Compared to some big Giants developer in the Industry, they would really spend and ensure that translations are correct. I guess for this company, they are very much into the cost cutting thing which is not efficient if they are aiming for global market.
My suggestion to Shrine, if you are really having a hard time, maybe try tekken on console, just to give you an idea of the game play. Then try playing World of Warcraft or Perfect World, you can also play 5Street. This will help you familiarize yourself with the terms used in game for MMOGs. Try to communicate and make friends with them to get you more involved. Don't worry, it will be a bit boring at first, but as soon as you make friends in game you will enjoy it eventually.

hehehe... yeah, i was just amazed... because i just saw a video of this game recently. And we are very interested to try it out. I think currently its on close beta testing in China.

WOW was cartoony sh*t, but still it killed alot of my time...
You cannot play LOTRO in China. I contacted the company who released it and they said that its not possible to play it in China and some other asian countries....played the trial tho...its okay, except for lack of PvP.
Im planning to buy Vanguard soon, so if anyone is playing it or is going to, PM me.
Playing non-chinese MMORPGs in China is kinda pain in the a$$. Internet is slow here...

Re: Chinese Kongfu mmorpg, are you interested in?
so you got any names of mmorpgs you can play in China English language?,, wouldn't mind if they were free to play and try out. I am into the wow/lotro genre. I've heard Perfect World is great as well as free but that you can't play it in English out of China. I imagine limited Chinese effectively rules out Chinese language games because of quest descriptions and so. What do you think?

Re: Chinese Kongfu mmorpg, are you interested in?
@ Evgenius: Yeah, my friends play WOW on China Server. But they are not so active now... trying to be the mature guys and get serious with work stuff...
@ Danmairen: I wish i could help you, but as far as i know, there are no MMORPG game in China that is not in Chinese language. For reasons that most of their target market cannot understand English, and having the game in English will limit their income.
My suggestion, check perfect world's other international server that are translated in English (i.e. PH server). download their local client and try to install, hopefully it will work.
