Dress alterations
Hello I just bought a "BCBG" dress for cheap at Dongwuyuan wholesale market but it's a little large so I would like to get it altered. Does anyone know of a good and reasonably priced place? Preferably near BeiDa/RenMin University OR around the CBD area. Thanks!

Re: Dress alterations
first point, tailors are EVERYWHERE,
it s not like asking for a KFC but ...
- look around
- ask dry cleaners, most of them have some sewing solution
- a really good tailor for alterations, if the item is really worth money, because they don t come cheap : shin kong plaza, basement, go all the way down to the food corridor, after the new watson, u ve, but EXPENSIVE

Re: Dress alterations
I went to a tailor in 3.3 and they charged me 100 kuai for alterations on a dress. Pretty sure all of them on the 5th floor are the same.
Whatever

Re: Dress alterations
To emphasize what babochina says above, i suggest you check your local dry cleaners. I frequently have clothes altered at my neighborhood DVD store/dry cleaners and they do a great job--at least at hemming and taking in the waist of pants that are too big. I am drawing a blank on the exact cost, but I know that it is usually between 10 and 50 kuai depending on the difficulty of what you are asking to have done.
Another option is the 3rd floor (i think) of Yaxiu Market in Sanlitun. There is a small section near the center/back of the floor near the bathrooms where they do alterations. I believe hemming is around 20 kuai and taking in the waist around 50-70 kuai. Also, when hemming pants, they will re-use the original hem so that your pants don't have that "i've obviously been hemmed" look. Simple jobs can also been done while you shop in less than 30 min.

Re: Dress alterations
Just to update the Yaxiu reference - the alterations desk is on the second floor next to the bathrooms/stairs.
