coffee machine

I'm looking for a better selection of coffee makers in Beijing. I've seen the three options that Carrefour has to offer (small Phillips at about 300 RMB). I've been to two different 国美 stores and seen the two or three options there (a brand I don't recognize called ACA selling models for a little under and a little over 200 RMB, and a small Phillips for about 300 RMB).

But I am feeling some resistance at spending 300 RMB on this kind of extremely basic coffee maker when I know I could get a machine with more options back home for 15 USD. I understand that this isn't a coffee-drinking country and that no matter what, I'm going to end up paying more, and that's fine.

I am hoping, however, that there is somewhere I can go with more options, where I can hopefully find a product I like at a price more closely aligned with its quality. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: coffee machine

haven t found it yet
international brand, international prices wherever u go
but my made in china at home, brought it back here, saved 150 rmb

if u re looking for french coffee pots and other more esoteric stuff (for a price i can t give you)

try the hotel supply market, south side of xiandai cheng, dawanglu subway station

they have 2 lanes for coffee and paraphernalia, but it s more catered for big hotels, but u can find pots/brewers to make french or turkish coffee

Re: coffee machine

Depends on if you just mean granulated/ground coffee maker.

I have a Nespresso espresso maker, I bought in the US, but they are about the same price here. Like 1300RMB at Shin Kong 5th floor- only bad thing is you need to buy the pods. Its very nice coffee- I love my cappuccinos in the morning. Much better than starbucks or regular coffee. I've had mine for over 3 years now and its still great so I see it as an investment that has paid off (30 RMB a cup at Starbucks).

Let me know if you want anymore details

Whatever

I love Nespresso too!!! I think it is fantastic in presentation and taste, so I brought my machine back to China. The only problem is that the pods selling here are much more expensive (comparing with 0.31 euros per pod in Europe and 8 RMB here). Normally I stock up my inventory whenever I go to Europe at a price of losing some freshness. But in general, it is a very good product

Re: coffee machine

If anyone here is still looking for a coffee maker, I would suggest the DeLonghi Coffee Maker. Not a sales pitch or anything but I have tried it and it has not let me down yet.

Re: coffee machine

I'll second the recommendation of the DeLonghi machines ... I have one of their small espresso machines (paid 1500 RMB, you could do cheaper if you tried hard), and it's awesome having espressos and lattes every morning.

When I bought my first one some years back, I did a bunch of research, and it seems as though the DeLonghis have the highest pressure pump, which is good for making creamy espresso.

Lately, I've just been drinking a lot of americanos, but this is still probably more expensive than a simple drip-coffee machine ....

Re: coffee machine

My coffee has been brewing for two years in my very cheap ACA coffee maker ... no complaints/problems. It's very basic, but it makes coffee, which is the whole point.
