Chocolate anyone?
I am a complete chocoholic, but unfortunately i have realised that China, may not be the best place for chocolate. I mean yeah, sure there are the imports but what abt local chinese ones?
Does anyone know any good LOCAL brands and where i can find them? for other chocolate lovers, do u feel the same or disagree completely? are chinese people fond of chocolate?
any thoughts will be appreciated...

Maybe this is like beauty?
In the eyes or mouth of the beholder.
I have heard so called experts rubbsih "Real" choc like Cadbury, Nestle Dove etc, which i quite like.
When in Korea I developed a taste for a local brand, dark and brittle but had a bit of kick to it. LOTTE I think.
Anyway, I digress.
Take a wander around any of the big supermarkets, Carrefour in particular and you will be surprised at the variety.
That should answer your last question if nothing else!
Should help your research but if you contemplate buying at C4 prepare to write off 30 t0 40 minutes in their check out queue,

Re: Chocolate anyone?
My absolute favorite grocery-store chocolate in China is Dove--it is much better than the US variety! My personal favorites (in order) are the Dove dark chocolate, milk chocolate with nuts and raisins, and the milk chocolate with coconut.
You mention cadbury and nestle, which are also available in most grocery stores, but are not nearly as good as the dove candy bars.

Re: Chocolate anyone?
KitKat here is crap and NOTHING like it is in the UK. I think that is mainly because in my experience, there is no cocoa in most of the Chinese chocolate brands. The substitutes they use are designed, I guess, so that they do not melt in the heat here. The real chocolate is more expensive, but you can get it in all of the supermarkets both Chinese and foreign. They have snickers bars for 3.90 all over the place and magnum icecreams - they are both real chocolate.
If you want help for your chocolate addiction I might be able to point you towards a easy solution. pm me if you do.
