L to F Visa yourself or really need an agent?
Hi,
It seems that now agents can get a 6 month F visa ranging between 4 and 6,000 RMB. Do you actually need an agent for this or can it be done yourself (I speak no chinese) They just go with you to the PSB and the price they charge is thousands more than the PSB fee, do people need to pay this fee so the agent can talk to them in chinese for a better chance of sucessfull application?

For an F visa, you'll actually need to provide an invitation letter, and this is where the real added service lies with the agencies.
For L visas, you can easily do them yourself, but unless you work for an important enough company which successfully applies for your incitation letter with the ministry (here's how: http://fxzl.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-get-invitation-letter-for.html), you'll need a partner for your business visa.

Can you suggest or recommend any agencies that provide an official authorized business invitation letter for someone outside China wishing to apply for an F visa?

You will only get an invitation letter via a Hong Kong agency as they get these by having contacts on mainland who can supply such things. You wont get one say from a travel agency in London. No invitation letter no f visa .L visa doesnt need letter but normally shorter than f visa.
