Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Hi I am here in Beijing, and I have a bad case of ginervitis by one of my top teeth next to my front teeth. What has happened is the gum of one of my teeth are being pushed up, so its as if I am loseing the gum of one of my teeth. So.... I need to find a good private dentist, or good known dentist company in town here. I live in Haidian district, but I am willing to go anywhere in town, If I can find a good dentist that someone here can recommended, that they have actually used. Also If you had any major treatment done here, did the dentist use novacaine ???
So any help in this matter would be great. Thanks

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Therock,

I would love to help you. I have a dentist friend. She does really good job, and her clinic is in HaiDian as well. I and my Australian husband go to see her every half a year. Trust me, she's a good one with reasonable price.

You can contact me maggiezmz@hotmail.com

Good luck.

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Hi,
I went to this really good private clinic in Dongzhimen and it's been the best one so far. The clinic name is Joinway Dental Clinic, the place is really clean and the doctors and nurses are really professional. They have english, korean and chinese services. They have really affordable prices and a very western service.
Right now they are offering this very awesome discount card, 168 RMB for cleaning, polishing, check up, x ray and registration. I think it's a great offer. Check their website:
www.dentalcn.com or give them a call 13261816708, they speak english.

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Just went to Joinway Dental Clinic. It is indeed clean and professional. They do have English and Chinese (no Korean) services and compared to what other western dentists have quoted, their prices are not bad. 160RMB for cleaning, 120 for polishing, etc.

However, I would sincerely hope that this is not the "best" western dentist in Beijing. In my experience, most dentists do a decent job. The difference between the average dentist and a great one is trust built through communication.

After a couple of visits, Joinway Dental failed to gain my trust. While the dentist practiced decent hygiene and spoke English, the assistants failed to change gloves after handling non-sterile items and the communication between patient and dentist was not great.

Still, if you're in a hurry, want English service, and don't know where to turn, Joinway Dental seems to be ready to take new patients.

I am an unlicensed amateur dentist! My nitrous tank are running low, anyone know where I can get them refilled?

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

I just went to a dentist for the first time in Beijing. I love the place. I was worried that I would have to "make do" with a sub-par dentist but this place was great. For a basic cleaning I went with the Jr. Dentist (Chinese), who can mess that up? She did a great job. There is an English Speaker there too and the receptionists speak English. I think the English Speaking Dentist is American if that makes a difference.

Here is the contact info. It's really close to a subway if that helps

I have a major phobia of dentists ever since having a facial nerve severed during a wisdom tooth extraction, leading to permanent numbness.

It was with great trepidation that I finally bit the bullet and made a long-overdue appointment, and chose Dr Dam-Laute at IDC.

Here it is, in a nutshell

-- SUPER super clean (and that includes waiting room, exam rooms, bathroom)
-- English-speaking (from California)
-- Professional attitude
-- Efficient, timely, chatty without being overbearing
-- Non-judgmental

Not exactly cheap -- my appointment, x-rays and cleaning was RMB 1000 and I've been advised that a crown that I need would cost RMB 5000.

Perhaps most comforting of all was that the people at IDC aren't pushy -- they said I could get cheaper treatment with junior dentists, and even recommended other competent practices I could go to -- that sort of attitude makes me quite confident that they know what they are doing and are not so insecure that they are afraid I'd go somewhere else.

Open, honest, competent, professional, clean ... I'm almost afraid to post this for fear I'll never be able to schedule an appointment again!

Chaoyang Hospital Oral Health Clinic:

Specialist appointment - 15 Yuan
3 wisdom teeth extracted - 400 Yuan

Follow-up Appointment - 10 yuan

If you're not a pussy that needs shifty, expensive foreign dentists that market themselves on forums just go for a local option at a government run hospital.

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

I agree with Tyr. However, I suggest you only do this when you have a very good grasp of the local language and, quoting Tyr, "not a pussy."

I tried doing this a couple of times but, needless to say, failed. Sad Mainly due to language barrier. Ended up getting ripped off on the 2nd attempt. So, I just decided to do the right thing for me to approach a foreign dentist. And now am very happy.

So, regardless of what you choose to do, just do it for your oral health. That's what matters at the end of the day, anyway. Cheap local dentist or a bit more expensive foreign one. It's you who will reap the benefits.

Cheers!

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Oh, and to particularly answer the orignal poster's question, which I failed to do just now, the dentist I approached is Dr. Laute of IDC Dental. Smile I have raved about her and the clinic in the other dental threads. But then again, as I always said, it's best to experience for yourself. Here's their website: www.idcdentalbj.com

Good luck!

It looks like there are a lot of paid commercials here.

You are certainly a total and absolute retard.

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

The one in Fengzhuang is good, last year at a Halloween party someone put a few drops of superglue in some Dracula fangs then slipped them on a drunk Dutch guy's teeth, the dentist apparently got them off for 100Rmb.

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

Just to add to the discussion, I've been pretty impressed by Dr. Philip Chan and Dr. Vivian Nazari at BJU. If you're not looking for a private clinic, then feel free to disregard. If you don't mind paying or if you have insurance, definitely try out BJU Dental.

Dr. Chan is no-nonsense, gets straight to the point, doesn't sugarcoat anything, but is very aware of how much discomfort his patients are in (and tries to minimize that discomfort). Dr. Vivian Nazari is great cuz she's a mom and is very in tune with her patients' feelings. Doesn't hurt that she's beautiful.

Anyway, if you want high-quality, native-English-speaking care with pain management options, check out BJU.

Yeah, sometimes the assistants are very un-skilled... Should be something to think about when hunting for a dental clinic!

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

i wanna get my wisdom teeth out, but i still can't seem to find anything on these websites or in a search on the beijinger.

maybe the best route is to just go to the local hospital, though it was pretty gross lookin' last time i went...

if someone has had a good experience getting their wisdom teeth out in beijing, please PM me!

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

The majority of the small dental clinics use Lidocaine, while large hospitals use Bilan anesthetic (made in France).

Re: Best Dentist In Beijing ???

I heard Dr. Wen at Beijing Dental Clinic resorts to insultingly obvious fake recommendations on internet forums to get patients.

Someone that unscrupulous is probably a shitty, poorly trained dentist.
