Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties happening?

Are you heading to a specific party or will you just get dressed up and head out to your usual watering hole??

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

jamie's bar hou hai dude

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

The Yen tickets are almost half price if you buy in advance-does anyone know where to get them?

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

you can choose "WU DAO KOU" as well

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

The Yen party SUCKED BIG TIME last year!
tickets were expensive, no complimentary drinks came with it.
we needed to wait in a very long line to buy drink tickets and more waiting at the bar to get the drinks....
some guys who had tickets couldn't come inside ( i didn;t know why..?!)... no seats... when we got tired of dancing, we needed to squat on the floor... the ushers were VERY RUDE... the venue was not good enough...the music wasn't that good either.the floor was wet with spilled drinks, spit, sweat, vomit... you name it!
it was a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

"The Beijinger's Halloween Party" in 2006 was great though...
That's what a halloween party should be.. nice setting... great performances, a lot of freebies..... Smile
how come you guys don't organize this event anymore? or maybe you did and i just didn't know about it... (?)

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

Yeah, and why does no one do a big halloween party for us grown ups?

By that I mean one where the music is something we know-not 4 hours of blips and beaps and dagadaa dagadaa dagadaa.

I am surprised the new TUN bar isn't doing one like that-keep the usual Friday night line up going but make it Halloween themed.

And another thing...all these second rate venues charging 100RMB-no ones going to come anyway, just make it free and you might at least get someone!

we stopped last year when it became apparent that virtually everyone and their brother was going to hold a halloween party, and pretty much all on the same night, effectively splitting th crowd into unpredictable directions, so we decided to give it a break. Fun parties, but altogether too stressful.

Coming from out of town for the evening. Can anyone comment on what would be the best bet of the bunch to try?

Prefer easy going costumed crowds and reasonably priced drinks as opposed to suits, pros and the overpriced, overmixed drinks that go with them.

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

Alfa (located down the small street across from Mix and Vicks) is throwing a Halloween party on October 31, combining it with its weekly Friday night 80's theme. I saw a poster for it, looks like there'll be lots of really good giveaways and food and drink specials between 8pm-10pm. Costumes are optional, though the theme is "Naughty High School Halloween." Best of all, NO COVER!

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

If you are looking for a good deal and no nonsense fun.

We are selling Paddy's Skool ties at the door all procceeds go to "Soccer in a box" Charity foundation.

Go with FREE. If it has drink specials even better...

Trust julethief and majisgone:

Alfa and Paddy O'Shea's both have awesome music and a "big halloween party for grown ups" with 2 for 1 deals on drinks (Alfa from 8 to 10) - can't go wrong with 2 for 1 - Both close to Worker's Stadium, so if you don't like one, check the other.

Also free and cool:
Obiwan - For a laid back reggae type of crowd
The Pomegranate - Not quite familiar with this one

...how the heck are you gonna fit that in there?

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

what about the wudaokou area ?

Derek Vinyard: Thats it! Now say good night.

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

Hm I must say Naughty Highschool Halloween at Alfa and Dead Guys Ale at Paddys sounds like a tempting combo.

ps: I know a lot of foreign students are going to the Acupuncture gig, but I'm like..hell no.

Offtopicrantfollows: Ive never been to Alfa, and Paddys scared me away with their 50 rmb for a Guinness in January, I mean come on, that would be a rip off even in Europe, but maybe it's time for a second chance tho..Rogue atleast is good beer, unlike that Irish sewer water.

Why is there just no place in Beijing with decent UK type ale on tap, instead of the usual factorymade Guiness/Erdinger crap? Now, that would get my attention!

Oh Wind, if Winter cometh, can Spring be far behind?

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

50 rmb is standard charge for Guinness in BJ excluding happy hours where it is 30% off 3pm to 7pm. Guinness is imported from Eire hence the price And being one of the most popular drinks in the world "Crap" is a bit OT.

SO you can drink 2for1 on all Bottled beers every Thurs, Fri & Sat from 9pm upstairs at Paddy O'Shea's not just the 31st.

Re: Halloween! Where are the best Halloween parties ...

Loads of us headin to Paddy O'Sheas. Good music and REAL cheap drink.....
You can't beat 2 for 1 on real alcohol and proper measures in this town.....

We are born naked, wet and hungry, and get slapped on our ar*se ... then things just get worse.

I can accept that long transport pushes up the prize. Ok. But that it is popular doesn't make it a decent stout. Indeed, popularity is often the hallmark of crap. Many factors are at play in the wide and sadly too often exclusive distribution and sale of Guinness, and Guinness qualities as a stout is likely a minor one. I am a beer connoisseur, and to me, it is indeed crap, nomatter how many you sell. I shall not hesitate to repeat that I would be very pleased indeed to see you bring about some "real" ales, casque marquee ofcourse, not the "fizz added" kind. Oh what a treat it would be!

But, the above said, and the tempting offer on 241 on microbrews of Rogue quality indeed a redeemer, I shall hereby publicly and hastily revise my critiscism to include only the Guinness beer itself and not the Paddy Oshea's pub!

It shall be my pleasure to enjoy a good beer in said establishment very soon indeed. Obviously a much better choice for Halloween than the megaparties! See you there Smile

Ive seen a lot of posters for one at Dance Hall, No.1 gym of Beida (Peking University), just northeast of Weiming Lake. This will likely be loads of students, foreign and Chinese alike. Looks good, and Kro's Nest around the corner seems to be a good place to kick it off.
They promise buckets of Dead Guy Ale for cheap, slasher flicks, animal o sacrifice and candy Smile As they write "what better place to get boozed up before being let looze on the town, drunk and dressed like an idiot" lol

So what you're saying is you need 3-4 foreign guys to 'accommodate' your Chinese girl friends?
