Wii Pricing

My birthday is coming up and I figured I'd buy myself a Wii Smile

Plan on going to Zhongguancun and bargaining. Wanted to know what the going rate is these days (saw that Bingjiling also had this question).

Also are Wiis modded? What is the Chinese word for mod chip?

Thanks all.

Re: Wii Pricing

I got a Wii, paid about 2800 including an extra controller. I'm really happy with it, only problem is its in Japanese and can't find an english one in China. If you find one, let me know.

...how the heck are you gonna fit that in there?

Re: Wii Pricing

Rather than making another topic, figured I'd just tag onto this one... nnelson, maybe you'll know about this since you have already bought a Wii.

It seems like there are quite a number of titles that you order through the virtual console. Can that be done here in China as well? If so, do you have to purchase a card or something similar (that's what it sounds like)?

Re: Wii Pricing

Buy through virtual console? No idea what it's about. All my Wii games bought locally for about 5-6rmb each, and obvioulsy copies.

Re: Wii Pricing

A friend got it for me. I remember him saying that it was like 1400 then there was a chip that I needed in order to read games 400, then an extra controller 300... Approximately...

...how the heck are you gonna fit that in there?

Re: Wii Pricing

I bought one in March I think it was. Paid 2400 with 20 games and chipped.

Re: Wii Pricing

Any news about the Wii? I am still looking for one. I´ve been in Yashow. They sell it for 2000 RMB with 5 games. Japanese Version. No idea if chipped or not. (I dont know much about this. Is chipping for playing copied-games??) What you think is yashow a good place to buy? They didnt want to bargain...

Re: Wii Pricing

Yeah, I just bought mine last week... spent 2600 but that included an extra controller, 4 classic style controllers (although they are gamecube ones and don't work properly because they have different buttons; so I will return them), controller recharger, memory card, 13 games, and, of course, chipped.

I think they only sell Japanese systems around here. You have to have them chipped in China because all of their games are pirated and, if you didn't have a mod chip, you wouldn't be able to play them.

And, yeah, I've noticed that with some electronics they won't bargain much. It's surprising but it seems that's the way it works. They gave me a 130 discount since it was my birthday.

Re: Wii Pricing

i bought one in zhongguancun a few weeks ago:

wii system modded: 1650
extra controllers: 350
power adapter (replaces japanese one with chinese/usa one): 50
+ 10 games: free

-----
total: 2050 RMB

after buying this, my friends said I got ripped off...but i think it's a great price... apparently you can get a similar deal in HK with the weaker HK dollar, but whatever.

I've since purchased a wii remote charger (70 RMB) and heaps of games ranging from 5-8 RMB.

My friend purchased the wii fit for 700 RMB, but we've since found it for around 650 RMB (which might be my next buy)

Considering that everyone who has posted here has bought them at around the same price, either everyone is getting ripped off or your friends are wrong Smile

Re: Wii Pricing

At pearl market today the prices were:

Wii (Korean box but all menus in english) 1350Y
extra controller:350Y (copy)
accessory set : (wheel, fishing pole, gun, racket, etc) 150Y

Re: Wii Pricing

got mine for 1650 near gu lou.

however, i have a question regarding the wii - its menu is in japanese (no problem, you can figure it out), but what is disturbing is that i cannot enter the settings, i.e. cannot change the date/time or anything else. is this normal or is that a mod that has gone wrong and i was sold a faulty machine?

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to death your right to say it.

Your system may have become bricked.... did you play any games on it that were not bought in China?

Re: Wii Pricing

its the firmware update from games from the wrong region.
f***s up your options and gives you an Opera error when you try do to anything, right?

Contrary to popular belief, its not really bricked. there is an easy workaround.
I "Unbricked" my Wii with the greatest of ease. You only need a dvd-burner and an internet connection.

You also need to beg me to tell you how to do it.
