something to keep me warm... electric blanket, space heater etc...
looking for something that won't electrocute me and blow up but won't cost the earth.
The government will turn on the heat system at Nov.15. Now it's testing time. Just 忍耐一下.....
Lodgerly! The government will turn on the heat ON November 15th. If I could get Chinese people to learn to use prepositions the world would truly be a wonderful place.

The electric oil heaters that look like radiators on wheels are fairly safe and not too expensive - around 200-500 RMB.

If I could help...)))
I do help them. The majority of my students are IELTS candidates who wish to study in a college overseas. Prepositions are one of the major aspects of my teaching philosophy. I cover them and cover them. I give them tests concerning prepositions and point out, at every turn, when they do not use them or use them incorrectly, conversely I give them praise when they are successful. I just cannot get them to abandon their natural way of speaking when they are using English. It is a moribund task I am experiencing and at times I become frustrated. They come to me and spend a lot of money to learn my language. I attempt to give them any and all help that is required for them to speak the language as well as they wish and need to. Of course this is not true for all of my students but I feel so for the ones that have problems with the language that it bothers me to no end if I cannot inspire even one of them.
Which is better?
1. If I could get Chinese people to learn to use prepositions
2. If I could get THE Chinese people to learn to use prepositions
3. If I could get Chinese people to learn HOW to use prepositions
4. If I could get THE Chinese people to learn HOW to use prepositions

I would only use the article "The" if I were trying to get the entire population of Chinese people in the world to use prepositions. For the "How" that is when you should use the word help, If I could help the Chinese people learn how to use prepositions.

The 4 have slightly different meanings.
THE Chinese implies all Chinese people so you would need to get the entire country to do so.
HOW implies that they already use them perhaps but that they don't use them well. without HOW I think the people you are talking about simply do not use prepositions.
The 4 meanings are very close and I understand your meaning is the same in all 4. In the very letter of the print they are different though.
Buy a little electric/oil heater from a local supermarket or Carrefour. They're like 200-600 RMB each, and I recommend buying a better brand, like Midea or something.
I had a smaller/cheaper one catch on fire one me one morning and awoke at 3am to the sound of sparks and melting plastic. Fortunately, the fire died out enough and I was able to unplug the thing pretty quickly.
Also, half the time, your air conditioner unit can also do heat. Look for 制热 in the list of modes (模式).

The problem with installed air conditioners is that the ones I've seen are near the ceiling not the floor and hot air rises. They do heat homes a bit but not enough to sufficiently warm a person.

Agreed, but it's better than nothing. I just waste a bit of electricity and keep it at like 23C or so ... The radiant floor heaters are 10x better, for sure.
First, this is not your English class, am I one of your students?
Second, for OP, only the post related to heat or heat system matters, it was him who needs help, I didn't ask anything from you;
Third, who the f*** are you? It has nothing to do with you that what kind of person I'm, mind your own business and leave other people alone;
Forth, you are such an arrogant little smug just bcoz you speak better English than non-English speakers, wow, that's soooo cool, you are so special. and your native speaker's accent is so attractive, it totally turns me on! I bet it must feel so good to be an English teacher here, blue eyes, and blond hair, hmmm....exotic flavour! And you are so important coz you came here to save Chinese people and their English!
Ridiculous! (Did I spell it wrong, professor?)
Can you shut up for a while and let other people do their work for f*** sake?

why do they turn off the AC at the end of Sep when it's still so f-ing hot and turn on the heat not until mid Nov when is already so f-ing cold?
It's called communism. Below the Chang jiang the houses have no heat at all and if you live in Jiangsu province it can be very cold in the winter. I have no effective way of explaining this phenomena so I just choose to call it communism.
What about a hot water bottle and some hot tea? The warm air in a room just makes you lethargic. Plus, the air is very dry, which is bad for your respiration.
