yeah, you can get visa in airport. but first you have to apply online and then they send you confirmation email. after that you have to send 30$ to them, then they said you official letter for your visa upon arrival in airport.
and you have to pay 25$ in airport while picking your visa. you also need 2 passport size picture to submit in the airport.

FYI, you may have a long wait at the airport if you do the visa on arrival. A lot of people seem to do the visa on arrival. If you can take care of it in Beijing before you go, you'll save yourself some time.

certainly less frustrating to do it in advance and breeze right in to Vietnam
I just used www.vietnamvisacenter.org It took two days and I didn't have to leave my passport with the consulate. It was easy. I was warned that the wait at the airport can take time but it took me 5 minutes.
