14 days in beijing.... where to go ?
i know i know this topic has probably been up for millions of times.
still i need some suggestions.
my best friend is coming to visit for 2 weeks and he has never been around beijing.
Top notch restaurant (3000-4000 Kuai budget for 2 people np np)?
A little bit of culture, maybe an amazing sight or something(no great wall or stuff like that)
i would also have no problem to go on a 2-3 days trip around beijing...
Anything particular beautiful during december/january in beijing?
Is the "birdsnest" worth a visit?
Just broaden my horizon on amazing places i could/should go to if i ever have been to beijing?
Money is not really the issue here.... so be free to throw in some more "fancy" ideas.
thanks a lot

If money is not an issue I suggest he stays at the Emperor Hotel, you go for pre dinner cocktails and Oysters to Domus and try out the Legation Quarter for dinner. Also, let him experience some mountain yoga in the fragrant hills and watch the sunset from Grand Hyatt's bar on the 65th floor.

Re: 14 days in beijing.... where to go ?
you say no great wall, but if cash is no object you may as well head out to the Commune, where they have their own private stretch of wall, it's likely to be snowy, so will look lovely. You've also got a superb resto out there, and a fantastically luxurious spa.
The bird's nest is definitely worth a visit, particularly in the evening when they start to light up the stadium, and the water cube as well.
Depending on when your mate gets here you should take them to Hou Hai. If the lake's frozen over, skating over it is a novelty, and gawking at the mad people who swim in the iced water is priceless.
and stock up on winter food ... hot pot is essential

Not many have heard about this secret place off the beaten track. Its known as "The Great Wall" for the lucky few of us who have been fortunate enough to visit it. It might take you a few days to find someone whos been there, or even heard about it, but eventually youll succeed. Carry on lad.

Re: 14 days in beijing.... where to go ?
I don't see the point in going to a high-class restaurant when in Beijing. You can do that anywhere in the world. Or go to HK as suggested.
Just visit some of those 小吃 down in Old Beijing. That way you'll have good food and a certain portion of local culture. Or is that too plebeian for your fancy taste?
