The usual places where they sell the Wii and its games. Do make sure you get an English CD of the Wii Fit. I have the Japanese one and I have absolutely no idea what the hell I am supposed to do.

You can also get the fitness "board" to go along with it. There's a third-party version that's a bit cheaper, but they say it's made by the same manufacturer as the Nintendo-branded version so there should be no difference in operation.

Wii Fit (including the board) is 400 or 420 for a third-party version, the original is 300 RMB more.
I got the third-party version and it seems to work well. The CD is in Chinese (Taiwanese version).
While I agree that it's better than sitting doing nothing, and may even boost your metabolism a bit....
You're not going to be getting fit with one of these things.
Stick to the running idea, much better plan.

Everywhere they sell games they usually sell those balance boards.
Under nurenjie flower market, side entrance to the basement via nurenjie food street.
Down the stairs/escalators about half way down the aisles on the right (aisle 6 or 7?)
If you reached the phones you've gone too far.
the game should cost you 5 kuai, the board is probably closer to western prices.
cant remember, bought mine like 2 years ago.
PS3's and 360's will cost you around 2500 in Beijing these days...so I'd guess around 1500?
depends on how many wii-motes and nunchucks you want.

Have to respectfully disagree, Aier2.
It all depends on how much effort you put in. Between the strength training, cardio and yoga workouts, if you can put in an hour a day, I think it really does pay off.
The exercises, if you set the 'goal' high enough, will definitely cause you to sweat and will provide a very good workout. Sure, nothing can or should replace 'real' exercise, but as a fun, interactive and motivating system, I think it really succeeds.
And trust me, this comes from experience. If you're looking for a good workout at home, you can't find much better.
As for location, you can also try gulou, near houhai. A whole street full of gaming options.

Fair enough.
Admittedly I'm going off reviews only, not experience.
If what you say it true I may just pick one up.
I haven't been to Gulou in a long time but I think they may be slightly more expensive, though more likely to sell genuine copies of games if thats what you're into.
I have got Wii Fit CD in Japanese and Chinese, but no English so far. I've put the darn thing in a cupboard since I couldn't be bothered to try and translate the Chinese too much. Maybe I should give it another try.

Now that I've finally seen demos and reviews of the final product of Microsoft's Kinect for Xbox360, I think it's reasonable to say that this may represent a considerable breakthrough in home exercise.
I believe this will achieve what the wii was only capable of on a rudimentary level, though maybe we won't start seeing some really great software for about a year.
Check out the vid here for a demo of a one of the launch titles.
If thats a mere launch title then things are promising for Kinect.
I'm still not attracted to this as a gamer though, all the fancy motion controls in the world can't beat a joypad or a keyboard and mouse.
And of course....you could just go outside and run or something to stay fit, but thats besides the point.

That does look interesting - it's like Wii + augmented reality. With good titles I can see it holding my attention longer (and therefore get a more effective workout).

But yes, the price is a bit steep.
