City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in Beijing!!!!

Beijing's best listings magazine, City Weekend, are first to report that Oasis, the greatest rock band of our generation, will play in Beijing on April 3rd.

Who's mad for it?

easy to scoop the competition when you are printing unconfirmed rumors ... they still haven't gotten the permit to play in Beijing. A brief look back over the past eight years and you'll notice that the road is littered with acts that were 'announced' to be playing in Beijing but lo and behold, never came due to permitting/scheduling/etc issues.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

yes, but in your scoop you totally omitted the fact that they were going through the final stages of confirming the gig.

Wouldn't it be embarrassing for you if they actually play? After you reported they were skipping Beijing. I bet you secretly hope they won't play, just to get on over on city weekend, because that seems like the petty man that you are.

See also changing my poll to include thebeijinger, and getting all your lackeys to vote for it.

Man you really can't take the superior competition, can you?

Live Forever.

including acts that you have reported as confirmed. What's the difference here?

note the original post:

Quote:
Shanghaiist recently noted that Oasis might be performing in Shanghai in April as part of their world tour. Although there is nothing up on the official Oasis site yet - closest we could find was the HK show on Apr 7 - Piao.com has the show listed as taking place on Apr 5 at Shanghai Grand Stage. Is this going to be another case of a major international act heading to Hong Kong and Shanghai but skipping Beijing?

we didn't report they were skipping beijing -- merely that a date had not been confirmed, and that, past history as a guide, many acts are in fact skipping beijing due for a variety of reasons, primarily among them that it's a very difficult place to actually turn a profit as everyone and their brother wants a free ticket but very few actually pony up the cash (unlike shanghai).

Yes, I bow down to ... the Shanghaiist.

If you want to get the timeline straight:

1. Shanghaiist kicked both of our's and city weekend's asses with the scoop of at least the Shanghai leg of the tour:

2. We then chimed in, referring to multiple sources:

3. then City Weekend, three hours later, chimed in with a post declaring the concert confirmed (which it has not been) with no sources cited

4. A subsequent call by our staff yesterday indicated that there are plans for a Beijing gig but that nothing has been confirmed yet.

5. We've updated our info. Neither CW or Shanghaiist has updated theirs.

Latest we've had from the organizers is that they will have more news on Thursday.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Don't cry.

Fact is that you strongly intimated that Oasis were to skip Beijing.

City weekend reported it would happen.

End of story

Guess we'll have to wait til Thursday to see who's the victor.

Because that's all it is to you, isn't it?

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Anyway, I hope City weekend win.

Not because of your petty feud.

Simply because I would love my favourite band of the last 15 years to come to Beijing.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Oasis is your favorite band???@!!!!!

OMG.

ok. you won.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Needless to say I'll be going if they come.

It'd be cool if they played a smaller venue like the Star Live instead of Worker's Stadium.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Oasis is music for football hooligans and other motley, working-class peasants.

Best avoided.

Is it my immmmaaaaaggggiiiiinnnnnnnaaaaaattttiiiiiooooooonnnnn...

I nearly shat myself hearing The Oasis were playing here.

I love Liam Gallaghoons and co., time to start a quotes firestorm:

Laughing

You're so uppity sometimes, Count.

What do you like? Coldplay?

I'm not a huge Oasis fan, but there are many individual songs I like quite a bit.

I'm not really going to get into this with someone who probably grew up listening to their parents' old Chairman Mao speeches at worst and Chinese 'wo ai ni' pop at best.

Suffice to say, you don't know what you're talking about, and your teenage wild years probably hit you at around 25. ie, too late.

You know nothing, in other words.

Another of the countless 'their first album was ok' brigade of brainwashed sheep.

I will trash the merits of any band you care to name, Count, when measured up to Oasis in terms of cultural impact.

I'm afraid you'll predictably come up with Radiohead.

Please, Nigel, go for it.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Oasis are as gay as Noel Gallager's haircut. All they do is attempt to regurgitate Beatles riffs and melodies with a hint of Nirvana thrown in for good measure. When is Celine Dion coming back to town?

Their first album was crap.

I loved the first round of The Stone Roses when I lived in the UK...

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Rolling On The Floor Never heard the Nirvana comparison before. Good one.

And Nirvana were Pixies/Beatles/Pistols/Mudhoney copyists (self-confessed), so, er.....fail.

That's the only attack isn't it? 'Beatles copyists'. Can you come up with something original?

Besides NO band is original these days. Best off copying the best, eh?

Their first album was crap.

you're crap.

A media-brainwashed sheep.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

What's the name of their first album, Count?

Without googling it?

Bet you don't even know, you c**t.

If you truly are a Radiohead fan, man, that's like smelling farts for kicks, listening to that sludge.

I don't read the music press.

I read proper books. You may or may not remember those from your state schooling. Perhaps there were a few dusty tomes in the living room at home - next to the three flying ducks.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

everybody in England over the age of 20 probably knows what their 1st album was called.

But to say it was crap obviously means you bought it.

No.

You mainly read the internet, cruising myspace pages for underage girls.

Was it: “You’re so sh*t it’s unbelievable and other terrace chants for the laaaaaaads”?

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

Don't change the subject.

Re: City Weekend get the exclusive scoop on Oasis in ...

No.

Don't change the subject.

The subject was you slagging off state school education and equating it with the inability to read proper books. You changed it.

Besides, the first subject was me asking you to compare a band of your choosing to Oasis.

Which you didn't.
