the hotel had not been opened yet
actually, i met their manager at the cctv new year party in december
the poor guy had been sitting on his ass for months,
the building had been ready for a while but no authorization to open
he had no other distraction than training his staff in his empty palace
now he can teach them how to use a shovel, a pellet, and how to pick up ashes

Hotel isn't open yet so hopefully no casualties. I hope the fireworks started the fire and they ban them for good.

I would love to see a photo of that building before/after.

For something that modern to burn so quickly in an area that is "downtown" and not off the beaten path, I have to chance that it may have been arson. Maybe someone was not paid and was very angry that they came back from holiday and still didn't get the money. Today was deadline day.

...especially if the sprinkler isn;t turned on and the builder skimped on safety equipment.

A hotel of that quality burns that quickly. f***. Mandarin's a 5 star, right?

Imagine if any of our apartment buildings went up. It'd be gone in 1 minute flat. The speed with which some of these building go up doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their durability.

I live a 5 minute walk from there. And yet fireworks still rage like f*** all around.
