When I was new in China I intervened in a few "man beats girl" situations, only once was the girl grateful, and she had blood gushing out of her mouth and nose.

The rest of the time, the girl will most likely turn on you and the nong and her will call the police together.

You'll waste hours of your life sorting it out in the police station.

Yeah I think if a guy is hitting his gf in public it probably isnt the first time. My friends mum got beaten by his dad for years but she never left him. I think deep down maybe these girls love their bfs/husbands and hope one day he will change. Which of course he never will. Anyway so if you come steaming in and kick the living sh*t out of him she will probably turn on you for beating the man she loves. Love is hardly logical if ever.

No I'm not American. I never said it was her fault that she gets beaten, but she sure as hell doesn't change her situation by staying with somebody who already laid hand on her, does she now? And keeping yourself in a situation like that is plain stupid. I don't even have words for guys who beat women.

i was checking out this post and it made me want to do some research on "defense of others" law. i know versions of this exists in sweden, the uk, the u.s. and australia, but found nothing in terms of china. i know they have self defense laws in china, but does anyone here know if china has such laws "defense of others" laws in place?

Yes, I guess you are right about the spinning out of control thing and losing your self respect and dignity. Well, even if she was rich and beautiful doesn't mean that she had a lot of respect for herself, and to be honest, I don't know what is going on in women's heads who stay in situations like that and hopefully I never will. I just know that thanks to my education and being brought up to never ever take sh*t from anybody, I will be smart enough to get out of a situation like that asap, aka after the first hit.

! Old Man vs Old Woman (looked like he'd tried to steal her handbag. wrestling on the floor, both must have been 60+).

! Shoplifer vs shoppers and stall holders.

! police vs handcuffed man (nasty).

! Chinese football team vs one Japanese guy.(nasty)

! and my favourite: 'People's Justice'.
About 25 people in a circle all taking potshots at one unlucky individual in the middle. One old dear booted him clean in the bollocks. That was in Mongolia though.

i actually knew a chinese guy was put in jail for helping in a situation like this.
he was walking home one day. it was around 10pm, he saw a guy beating his girlfriend, so he went and punched the guy in the face, they started a fight, he ended up breaking one of the guy's arms. later, the loser sued him and the police arrested him and he was in prison for a year.
a big part of the reason this guy who helped lost the case was because the guy's girl friend was on her boyfriend's side. after all, she was the only witness.

I guess that says it all....look at cyrus and the Chinese mentality...there is no hope.
