Beware of "Captain English"!
I need to warn everyone to stay away from "Captain English." This company claims that they will find you a stable kindergarten job, but they just jerk you around, lie to you, fail to get you a legal work visa like they promised, and then they don't even pay you!
There are three men at this company: Captain, Ridy, and Truman. Captain is the ringleader, and Ridy and Truman are his henchmen. They currently have several ads on the Beijinger.com classifieds page, filed under "Ridy."
Be careful--at first they seem like nice guys, but they are just out to exploit foreign teachers. After searching for a long time, I thought that I had a legitimate teaching job with them. They lied to me, saying I would be the teacher for the rest of the semester, when in fact I was simply a substitute teacher. When the real teacher came back, suddenly I was out of a job.
When I confronted them, they were evasive about the issue and, to add insult to injury, they refused to pay the full salary for the time I had worked. They are con men. After wasting time trying to get them to man up and follow through on the legitimate work visa that they had promised, I ended up having to make a last-minute, emergency trip to Hong Kong to get my visa renewed before I got kicked out of the country.
If there was a Better Business Bureau, I would definitely report them because they are total frauds. If there is such a thing, please let me know.
I just don't want anyone else to fall into the same trap. Whatever you do, don't work for Captain English!

I've actually heard a similar story from a friend about Captain English. Thanks for the warning. I will definitely refuse any work from them.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
And why would anyone trust a company called, "Captain English" anyway?
It sounds like a really bad Saturday morning cartoon that tells kids that to be cool they need to eat a lot of junk food at McDonalds and to have the latest computer crap they need to give more money to B. Gates and his Micr$oft Co.
Hmmmm. Not so good to me.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
Yup, all of their names are ridiculous. Too bad all the great comebacks come after the fact...isn't hindsight a love/hate relationship?
Glad to be of some service.

If there was a Better Business Bureau, China would go back to being semi-nomadic clans of hunter-gatherers.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
Morgan English is also a front of theirs. I went in for a job interview and they had Morgan letterheads.
If you're going to be two-faced, at least make one of them good looking.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
Wait, so you mean to say that the two fronts these people use are "Captain" and "Morgan?" Hmmmm. If this weren't such an unfortunate situation for Watch out English, I think it'd make a great sitcom.
But thanks for the heads up on Morgan English. I also must agree with mschlee on the hunting and gathering...

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
oh it gets even better than that. They have 4 ads on here posted under the names of 4 different companies. We only named those 2 names here.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
I saw their ad on here for a kindergarten, they offered 7,000 a month. When they wrote me and asked me if I was interested I told them that I had a better offer and within one hour they had messaged me asking me to come in for an interview. They changed their offer to a year long business visa and 10,000 a month as well as paying for 2 months rent.
I was in their office negotiating and saw their letter heads were for Morgan school. ( Note that I was not contacted under the name Captain English or under the name Morgan so this got me suspicious.) I asked them about it and he quickly asked the other guy in Chinese ( they didn't know I spoke Chinese) what to answer me.
WEll they said that was a letter on their desk from Morgan school. Alright, maybe it was, so I asked them if they were sure they were legitimate since there were no plaques on the wall and the only thing official was the textbook. Never mind, I have seen worse in schools before. They said they were not a school just recruiting for schools. I came home and then saw the post...but another thing they also have ( another operation, program, whathaveyou...) is they are supposedly a Canadian branch of some sort of school.

Cause it looks pretty legit. I was thinking about working there.

Re: Beware of "Captain English"!
It sounds to me like these Captain English guys have stolen the Morgan name and are using it as a front.
Morgan is a reputable English school and I've been working for them for almost a year with no major problems, in fact I've been treated much better than at many other English schools.
There's no problem working with Morgan, as long as you know it's the REAL Morgan. The boss there is a guy named Ben Phone.
