i just did mine last week for my x visa.
the only thing u need is all the original documents like the blood result, xray, etc. then u just submit it to the place where ur company wants u to go. u also need to pay, i paid 60 rmb. and bring pictures with u as well

after, u get an option either u take it urself the same day, or they will mail the verification paper to u with extra cost. once u get it, i believe u can give it to ur HR department for them to do ur residence permit. or if u need to apply urself.
n no, u dont need to do another health check to apply for residence permit. just the verification letter is enough and all ur imigration document, along with the letter of ur residency (apartment, dorm, or that such things) n passport. for this, u also need to pay..
