Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

find a place to cross border. cross over .get passport stamped . go home from that country. worse case you will get fined in other country but you can still get back to china.just get new passport when you get home so if they ever look there will be no place of date of depature. hope you have some money. It may be expensive.pays to no the corrupt ones in your case.or buy a sailboat and sail home.thats the best way.

You paid someone without or before looking at the valid until date on the visa?
You have to go to that visa place or the police station yourself. Look at another post today about a late visa- late fines run about 5000 rmb depending on how many days it is overdue, the longer you wait the more you pay.

2 YEARS LATE? RUN

2 Days late you are in trouble

2 Years late you are F*cked!

There is no cop in China that is going to buy that story. Try asking someone at your embassy, you might be in some serious trouble.

You have to exit China customs before going to a another country, they will see you don't have a valid visa at the airport or train station and give you the Go to Jail card then and there.
When you leave China you have to fill out a little yellow departure card with the visa number and the expire date. NO WAY AROUND THAT, ASIDE FROM A BLIND CUSTOMS GUARD!

ok what I was refering to was dont go through regular crossings . find a place and cross over illegally. he is not legal anyway . this can be done.only a fool would try and exit thru airport or train. walk find a boat.he can have a freind croos legal meet him on other side the freind can make arangements with customs guy pay him and get stamped.the system is not as advanced as they want you to believe. .I have to give you an example . How do drugs, abducted woman, guns, blah blah and blah, get into a country. This is his only choice cause he is screwed anyway, have i done this maybe. He can even go to his embassey in the other country and say he was abducted from china to there and he escaped they will help him and he can then leave legal.. Ofcourse there maybe an investigation ,sometimes not.so find a spot and cross .just do its easier than you think .some people just watch to many movies. Dont Tell Anyone

ps if you go to your embassey dont bring passport say they took it. also you can say you were robbed in the country you are in.never even saying you were in china.this one has definately worked before. with U.S.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

Why worry? The Chinese love the African! Just ask Booby.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

He is a Black guy from Africa not the USA. They would be scared to mess with a US citizen to some degree, but an African? He'd stick out like a sore thumb trying to cross border with or without the visa.

Drugs come into China from Burma the same way they come in to the USA from Mexico, up someones rear end, or in an 18 wheel truck filled with boxes of produce items. Besides, if an African gets caught sneeking out, they are going to assume he is doing something illegal and tack that onto his jail sentence.

When you head to the police station be prepared to be deported (or even jailed) ASAP!

Also if you claim you lost your passport 2 years ago they can and will look up your old passport and see that no visa number has been registered to it since 2007, you are gonna get f***ed either way. The more shadey he looks the worse it is going to be.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

Don't worry - last year I overstayed my visa for 3 months. At the end I just had to pay the 5000rmb fine, then they give you a 10 day visa to leave China.

Some sources say if you overstay they put a big red stamp in your passport that says you can't return again for a year or so; but this didn't happen to me, and I was back in 2 months. As long as you're registered here, it's not a big deal... just the fine.

Actually, pretty much the whole Burmese border is open and unguarded except at the official border-crossings. Not so stupid as it sounds. The people in the border regions often live in Burma while working in China and cross the nonexistent border daily..Only problem is that since there is so much drugs comming IN to China there´s rather a lot of checking done if you´d, say, come by bus from Ruili to Kunming. Been into Burmese villages a couple of times that way but it is not exactly close to the capital and there´s the warlords etc...but at least you´d have an interesting time, pick up some quality Jade and make some new friends. Beats the airport-jail at terminal three I´m sure. Again; Good luck!

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

In this situation the OP should not mess around with a filing agent. He needs to go to a locally licensed lawyer from a respectable firm right away.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

My arithmetic is not working so well this morning, I just can't quite get a handle on how, if you were waiting for the so called agent's friend for ONE year why is your visa now TWO years expired.

Usually expired visa or overstay is NOT a big problem, as long as you have the cash to pay the fine and it does not effect your returning, but honestly, this story seems like someone is not being quite straight up or has a hidden agenda.

sad I had to dig this out ,i did find a picture I was missing.
looking at paper right now !they gave a transportation letter with his picture on it from a photo copy.
as far as the ticket yes they paid , what it says without writing all of it is [receipt and promise to repay,repatriation/subsistence loan] I agree to repay bla bla bla dept of state, office of financial, fiscal, accts. receivable. the ticket was a little more than 600 usd I wont give exact amount for obvious reasons . any way this was a few yrs back maybe they changed policy. I doubt it. so JR. you dont know what you are talking about.

@ahimsa thanks, there seems to be
some one else that has lived besides me.

africa,
a lawyer cant help, just get your money. its just smart cross the line .do it close to your embassey if you can . have money for ticket dont show passport ,they will get you home without all the fines .you really have no other choice its really no big deal unless you are caught on the way out.you will have the adventure people dream of. glad to help you out .I have no more to say.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

I just took care of my visa problem.

I didn't overstay as long as you, but...

I would just like to share my experience, and hope someone will find it useful.

First off, going to your embassy is probably useless. I went to the U.S. embassy. The Chinese lady working there was nice, and seemed a little concerned about my story. She said that the embassy would help me with paying a fine if I really needed it. She also basically just told me all the stuff I already knew, and said good luck. A day later, I went back for some advice, and the fat American guy just told me, "get the money from friends or family, get the plane ticket, and get out as soon as possible." "everything is your fault".

Yeah, I admitted that I was partially at fault.

Now as far as the PSB. I told them my sitch. They really didn't care. They just wanted some money. I said I am not sure if I had the money. One lady replied, " ni you duo xiao qian". So, obviously, like all of China, they just cared about the money. They said pay the five thousand or go to jail.

This is the only opportunity for a Chinese to talk to am American or treat an American like this, so they used the opportunity. Obviously, I cannot act like a jerk.

So, I paid the fine after they made me sit in a room for a few hours. They said they then can give me a 30 day extension, if I paid the 5000. I then went to the clerk, and she said she can give me only 10 days. I told her that the guy just said 30 days. Of course this is like everything in China. Everyone just says what they want. No organization. I then told the guy this. "you have no organization, and you just want to make money".

She said she can give me the extension, but I needed a few things first. I guess I won't go into details about this, but it is ridiculous. I told them I just want to get out of here.

The thing that is most ridiculous is that they take 8 days to process the visa, but I have 10 days to leave, so I have only 2 possible days to buy a ticket. Fortunately, I found one, but I ended up paying more money to switch the date, because they weren't clear in telling me that they take 8 days to process it.

Anyway, as long as you have some money you can do it. But be prepared for a long process and a lot of stress. I literally spent all week to solve this. It was like a full time job.

Ok, so good luck.

Don't give up. I actually felt like it, too. But I realized that, besides death, it can't get any worse. Things can only get better after you go home.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

Sell everything you have here. Finish up your business here and send your money home. Prepare for some jail time and don't expect to be allowed back.

Re: IN BIG TROBLE WITH MY VISA

By the way, I'd be very doubtful that any agent could help you out of this situation - if someone's offering to, they're probably just going to do the same thing that the earlier agent did. Don't be a sucker. They are almost certainly trying to cheat you. I wouldn't try to fight city hall on this one. Just organise your business and personal affairs first, liquidate anything of value you own here, send your money home and then present yourself to the authorities.

I'm not sure I'm buying this story. The first time you mention the agent it was a he. He switches to she for the rest of the narrative. Might be a typo, of course, or maybe just another internet troll.

Now let's look at the time line. Your visa expired in August of 2007. OK - now we'll figure that you knew your visa was going to expire and handed your passport to the "agent" in, say, July of 2007 for a one year visa. A one year visa would have you staying in China, legally, until August of 2008...seven months ago. Hmm. So how does that work? Nineteen months go by from the time you gave your passport to the agent and the time he or she gave it back? How does someone get strung along for nineteen months? How did you live in China without your passport? You say you do business here - did you ever try to stay in a hotel while on a business trip? You need to have your passport to do so.

Sorry - your story sounds fake.

I buy most of the story, but it seems like he is looking to blame others for his mistakes, and I am sure he was doing something illegal or hiding from someone else at home.

No "successful businessman" can go almost 2 years without your passport. What kinda businessman doesn’t need a passport to go to a bank? You can only deposit a certain amount at a machine. Passports are also need at the police station, hotels, airports, and a ton of other places.

The only business you don’t want to have a passport for is a business on the sidewalk of Sunlitan.

Sorry - your story sounds fake.
