Re: acquiring police certificate

Why would you need to apply for a police certificate to move in with your GF?

You don't read the papers, huh?
According to Xinhua, as of March 11th 2009 every foreign resident who is privately involved with a citizen of the PR is required to get state approval for their partners. After a long debate at the National People's Congress this week this regulation was decided unanimously.

@monkeyfluffy

Country? If you're from a 'friendly' country, just bring your passport. If not, you could be in semi-deep doo doo.

Me? I'm from a 'friendly' country.

Good luck.

Re: acquiring police certificate

I see now. Police certificate and foreign resident registration are two different things. Ok then.

Re: acquiring police certificate

It's just like any other registration event you've gone through. Your girlfriend will need to bring her hukou and the deed to the place and her ID card.

You'll need to bring your passport and the old temporary registration permit (which is what I think you're talking about. If not then apologies).

Re: acquiring police certificate

I honestly don't have a clue. Sorry. I'd suggest you ask the police station you'll be registering at. They'll tell you everything you need to know (albeit in a surly and possibly intimidating manner).
