10-story high sculpture given to the US by the Russian government. Located at the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor as a memorial to those that died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The large polished titanium teardrop to represent the tears in Moscow shed for the 9/11 victims. A constant flowing of water which causes the sculpture to appear to weep.

This is a great gesture from Moscow, it shows the sense of abstraction over mere political divergences to reach the human quintessence. The statue inspires, nations states are summonned , including the co-called ennemies..

In September 2005, Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the ground breaking ceremonies for the "Tear Of Grief" monument which has since been erected at the edge of New York Harbor. One year later, on September 11, 2006 President Bill Clinton, other federal, state, and local officials, and a host of dignitaries gathered for the official dedication. Leann Rimes sang the National Anthem. I was amazed to learn that few Americans are aware of this gift from the Russian Academy of Arts and the people of the former Soviet Union.
