Make up
I must admit that when I do my own make up for some special occasion, it either ends up with some mascara, lipstick and blusher.. have tried smoky eyes but ended up looking like a panda.
I was at my regular salon, C. de France, for my monthly cut and highlights the other day, and I was offered a free make up. And boy did it make a difference! Their swedish make up artist, Kris, showed another side of me, things that I never thought was even possible! Cheekbones! Big eyes! Even skin tone that looked natural! And this was just a day make up..
Yesterday I was attending a party and asked for the same make up artist for an evening make up, which costs 335. He once again worked his magic on my face, and I couldn't have been more satisfied with my styled hair and gorgeous make up! My husband haven't seen me like this in years! and I got so many compliments from my friends! They really gave me a self confidence boost! Definitely going back when I have another event to attend!!

Nothing prettier than a cute chinese chick with a light make-up. A pity they don't do it more often.

Re: Make up
My Chinese friends will get their hair done almost every week but they won't wear make up and think I am very unusual for wearing light make-up ( example light brown eyeshadow and lip gloss)to work. They go to a party and are overdressed but still won't even put on perfume. I don't know why.
If you're going to be two-faced, at least make one of them good looking.

It's not in their culture sweetpie, that's why.

Re: Make up
Ty Xelium. But what about the pearl powder and the red lipstick? I guess that stopped after the cultural revolution so is no longer part of their culture.
They also comment on me at work because I do my hair myself ( yes I actually style my hair before coming to work) and don't wear any jewelry. I guess it is just a different culture. I dress how I did in the US at work and what would be respectable in offices around the world.

Re: Make up
You'll find out that many chinese chicks will always pick on you, trying to find your flaws in sh*t. Don't let that happen to often, it's a bad habbit they have, go for bitch-slapping. You do your hair yourself??! O-m-g, such a shame!

Re: Make up
haha, i do make up but usually forget to use the lipstick, so my friends always ask why i look so pale.

Re: Make up
It's not about the lipstick girl, it's the blusher, rouge, cheek color! That gives you a healthy look.. as Kris has taught me. just wearing lipstick will still make you look pale.

Re: Make up
yes, it takes me like 10 minutes in the morning to put my hair up in some cool style. I get bored of ponytails or buns everyday so I do something different. And my hair is naturally curly which helps.
Yes they do pick on me for smthg different at work but that is all part of the workplace experience and I don't care what they say. I am not going to dress like a hag with red lipstick just to make them happy.
If you're going to be two-faced, at least make one of them good looking.

Re: Make up
Yes, just wear a subtle blush and foundation and that is it. Wear eyeliner, foundation powder and a subtle blush then you look natural, healthy and like you r not wearing any makeup. I don't wear lipstick at all during the day.

Re: Make up
I suddenly ask myself "wtf am I doing in a thread talking about make-up?". Then a flashback, I see myself in my mums underwears before a mirror saying "Mmmmm Xelium you're so pretty hon". Yeah we all have our moments...

Re: Make up
well, to be honest, there are cosmetics especially designed for men these days.. not that I know any guys around who do make up everyday, but I've seen it. And besides, so what if you use a bit of concealer on a spot or two? Who cares? And xelium hon, there are loads of trans out there who still play with womens clothing and make up and look fab! Not that I'm suggesting that you should take it up tho..

Why it sounds so much like an advertisement?! Do they pay you for that, josie_k?
seriously...

Re: Make up
Nothing to do with advertisement darling. You can think what you want, but it's only good if you don't go there, then i'll have him for myself. Advertisement... tssk...

Re: Make up
Hello Everyone
Here i have some simple tips for own make up.Make up is one of the most expensive items for every women.By using of these tips you can easily make up yourself and also save the money.
You don’t have to buy cosmetics; you can make them. Here are a few recipes for putting together your own make-up kit.
1. Eye shadow is one of the easiest things to make. You need to buy mica in different shades, something to grind ingredients (you can buy a mini-grinder or use a plastic bag), and powder binder. How offers a simple recipe for mixing eyeshadow.
2. Blush is even easier to make than eyeshadow — you don’t need a powder binder. Just use mica. Make Your Cosmetics.com has a great blush recipe .
3. Lipstick is one of the harder things to make on your own. However, it is possible to purchase lipstick kits for around $90. These usually include a demo video, along with a variety of pigments so you can make a number of different colors. But if you are really ambitious, you can make your own lipstick from scratch.
4. Personalize your foundation (and make it last longer) by mixing your current foundation with a the facial moisturizer that you use. You can create a sheer foundation and stretch out how long your current foundation lasts.
5. Create a colored mascara look by combining what you already have — no need to go out and buy mascara in different colors. The Beauty Shop recommends that you apply your regular mascara, and then take your flat eyeshadow brush and look down while you lightly pat the top of your lashes. Maybe you could use some of your homemade eyeshadow…
6. Actually creating your own mascara is not usually the best idea, since we are talking about putting things near your sensitive eyes. However, if you want to save a little money, you can put a little Vaseline or Lipstick on your lashes, and then use dark blue, brown or black eyeshadow to complete the look. But again, be careful. This is not recommended, as it can result in an eye infection if you are not careful.
7. You can create your own make-up remover as well. It is possible to create reusable make-up remover pads using a squares from a charm square and backing it with flannel or Minky. Use the pads, and when you are done, you can wash them in the laundry. Since I shower in the evening, I just remove my make-up in the shower.
8. It is possible to make lipstick at home, if you make beeswax lip balm. You need cocoa butter, some oils, honey, lanolin and beeswax. All of these things are available at the grocery and craft stores. About.com has a great video that demonstrates how to make your own lipstick.
9. Making your own colored nail polish is possible — as long as you have some clear nail polish and some eyeshadow. Add glitter for sparkle. Style Tips 101 has a simple recipe for colored nail polish.
10. Facial toner is fairly easy to make if you have some cooled tea and essential oils. Add a little rubbing alcohol, and you end up with something that has a longer shelf life. You can even use floral water and a couple drops of essential oils to create a facial toner. Saffron Rouge has good information on creating your own toner.
11. You can make your own skin care lotion with only three ingredients that are easy to find: emulsifying wax, water and oil. Blog Her has a lotion recipe that comes with variations to make hydrating lotion and scented lotion.

Re: Make up
I wear a lot of make up every day but my skin isperfect and spotless naturally. I do wear natural shades.
I find the best budget foundation is Mabyelline Pure Minerals. If you want to splash out then the Chanel foundations are amazing.
- Eyeshadow. I did spend money on Mac eyeshadows on the past but they didn't stay very well. I bought a huge colour pallette from Hongqiao market for 90RMB and it is great. If you want to spend more money, then the Dior eyeshadow is the way to go.
- Mascara. The best one I have tried is the Loreal mascara that has the white base included. Super volume! I even wore this at my wedding.
- Liquid liner. The best I have tried is Dior but on a budget Rimmel offer a decent one for about 30 RMB from Watsons.
- Lipstick/Lipgloss. No point in really spending a lot on lipstick. It all comes off. Estee Lauder is good for lip gloss but I quite like Maybelline. Loreal do really decent lipsticks and also try Sephora's own brand.
- Eye liner. Ooooh I love Sephora's own brand and Loreal too.
- Blush. I use the Loreal Pure Minerals blush, very natural looking if applied correctly but I used a fake Mac blusher in the past and it works really well too.
