Fitness First Gym in China Life Tower
Has anybody ever been there? Pool looks ok from the pics but I'm afraid it might be rather "Chinese standard".

I used to be a member there a few years back - the pool was small, but swimmable. The men's locker room was a pit.
The air is a bit stifling in the gym overall because it's in a basement with poor ventilation...

I'm member with them in Delhi and would like to take the membership with me to Beijing instead of paying a fine for cancelling it... Their club here is top notch but I doubt it translates to the same in China.
Anyone there to confirm / deny what Jerry said?

Re: Fitness First Gym in China Life Tower
I am currently a member in Fitness first in China Life tower. It is not shutdown, the pool is a 25 metre pool and cleaner than many YMCA pools I have been in US. There is no deep zone. It is in the basement and can get stifling when crowded, I go during Off peak hours so dont face it much. Equipment maintenance on a scale of 1 to 10 would be around 7. Classes are good. It is a bit expensive compared to other GYMs that are available but the representatives speak english.
The major selling point is that there are no other GYMS around that area close to China Life Tower

Re: Fitness First Gym in China Life Tower
let me tell you my story about fitness first in china life. i went there to become an international member, since they have gyms in the office buildings of my company in both beijing and hk. paid about RMB4,800 for an international membership. went home. 2 hrs later got a call saying i would be transferred to shanghai. no fitness first in shanghai. went back to china life 2 HOURS LATER they wouldn't refund my money and my membership didn't even start until the next day. have been in a 3 month battle with them trying to get my money back, including regional office in HK. no luck. those miserable thieving f***s. i really liked fitness first in hk too... the gym itself doesn't seem bad, but really, how cheap is that??? the whole reason they don't list china on the website is because of me, because they have a 7 day cancellation policy in HK, and it should apply to china too, but the china franchise are so money-grubbing that they couldn't even follow it. i hate them.
if you want to buy my membership off me though, that would be great
Trust me, it's so danger.

only if you have an international membership, so if you don't have that you should ask your gym in oz to upgrade you. but if you don't live or work near that gym i would suggest finding somewhere near where you live and work instead. usually plenty of options.
