What are the best places in Beijing to meet girls? I'm looking more for specifics (X bar, Y cafe, Z park) than generalities (a bar, cafe, park), unless those generalities are specific to Beijing and don't exist in other places.
You can meet girls anywhere you're able to strike up a conversation.
Over time when you get a circle of friends, you can head over to the student bars (Tun or Kai in Sanlitun, Propaganda in Wudaokou, for example) and you'll have a phonebook full of names you don't remember in no time. (That is, assuming you're looking for those kinds of girls.)
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
I thought about setting some meetings up on the classifieds - but I like to see the girl I'm working on first, so that I don't waste both our time. My time in Beijing is limited, so I don't want to waste time on girls I'm not interested in.
Basically, if I have have some locations where I know the girls are being receptive to be talked to, then I can take it from there. But it's knowing the places to go to talk to the girls. Any club recommendations anyone?
Thanks Niu Bi - that's the sort of info I was looking for.

Sweet!! That's what I like to hear.
In all honesty though - what kind of money can I expect to spend if I go for a full out night of drinking hard at the better clubs (do such a thing exist?)? 2000? 3000?
1) What time are clubs open until in Beijing? Do they have a closing time, or is it just when everyone goes home? Is it different on weekends than weeknights?
2) I've already asked this - but what can I expect to spend on a good night on the town?
3) Are there any clubs that are higher class (read: more expensive) than others?
4) Do clubs have a dress code? And are they air conditioned inside?
create a qq account. I have conversations in broken Chinese all the time with cute girls and if I were there I'd be hooking up with them. Plus you can avoid skanky bar sluts.

1. Most of the smaller clubs start closing up around 3-4am, few are open past 5.
2. Varies VERY widely. I've had one a many great nights on 20 kuai. On the other end of the spectrum, rich Chinese kids impressing their friends can go through a few thousand kuai in one go. If you go to cheap bars, 50-100 kuai should get you through the night. If you go to fancier bars (and even get a table with friends) you should be fine with 2-300 kuai. This also fluctuates with cab fares, number of people in your group, food, etc.
3. Yes. Quite. Note, though, that more expensive is not especially the same thing as classier in Beijing.
4. Ha! Dress code! Please, this is China - show up in your pajamas for all they care. You'll be more than okay in a button-down shirt and jeans, even slightly overdressed in some places. You almost never see suits except for hotel bars. I've never heard of a white guy being turned away from a place for being underdressed - and I've seen some pretty shabbily dressed foreigners. Clubs do generally have a/c and heating, but it can still get pretty muggy on a crowded dance floor.
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
Which leads to another question - you said that more expensive doesn't necessarily mean more classy - can you recommend some of the more classy places?
Sure... Centro in the Kerry Hotel is probably the best of the "classies." Hotel G around Gongti West is good, too. These are bars, though, meant for socializing with important people or impressing well-dressed hookers. As far as clubs go, classiness is on a Chinese standard... which means anything that lets you show off your wealth. I suppose clubs at Block 8 in Chaoyang Park would fit the bill.

Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
Admin hooked me up with those links in a different thread. Mesh seemed to be quite popular, and... I think it's called Bar Q, or Q Bar. Have you ever been to either of those?
Poachers'- lame. Much worse than before.
Barblu- easy girls and boys, not high quality. You often see some cool dancers.
Suzie Wong- meat market.
Bling- many sexy girls and guys, well, if you are lucky. No good dancers.
Block 8- nice environment.
Tun- I will check it out this wknd.
Thanks a lot - I was looking for some specifics, and that helps a lot.
Is club hopping doable in Beijing? For example in Canada, it's pointless - you have to wait in line for every club, so if you leave a club, you can't get into the next club. In Tokyo on the other hand, you can hop as much as you want, except that clubs are often kind of spread out, so it takes time to get around.
Other countries I've partied in have varied similarly.
Club hopping is what Beijing's party scene is all about.
No lines, and clubs are all concentrated in specific locations. You almost never stay in one place all night. Beijing's nightlife was built on this. Sanlitun is like a small town of its own; you can have a great night without ever even entering a club.
If you're a self-professed metrosexual, I'd stay out of sanlitun though and stick with chaoyang park (Bling, Block 8, Suzie Wong) and worker's stadium (Vics, Club LA).
These clubs generally have cover charges (50 kuai).
[Note that all three of these areas are close to each other.]
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
Thanks for more great info! I'm looking forward to this - sounds like Beijing could be a good place to party.
I wouldn't say I'm a full out metrosexual. But I do like to take care of myself - going to the gym, trimming excess body hair (like eyebrows), wearing decent clothes. But I'm not obsessive about it, just conscientious of it.
Aier, wants to meet Admin's boys?? that is an unhealthy crush Aier, what an unscrupulous little man you are!

Re: Best places in Beijing to meet girls
Poachers, vics, alfa, bar blu, Bling.
You see, they are the places young and easy girls would like to go.
Some book cafe like the one in hua mao gong yu(adroit de ShinKong), you can impress some girls because of the book you read even ^^
The library L'AF owns, there are lots of girls who actually study/socialize there, many of them don't mind to know new people and are very hot
Oh, Houhai and gulou area too, there are many girls who welcome the "surprise" that you just go to talk them on the street.
Have fun in beijing ^^

Mesh, btw, is decidedly metrosexual ... and some nights are gay nights, so careful when you go.

Good to know.
I'm semi-metrosexual, but not at all homosexual (unless Otto changes his mind about spending some quality time with me), so Mesh may be ok for me.
Anybody have a favorite club? Or do you know any other clubs in particular that are easier to pick up in than others?
