I was there 3 weeks ago and had quite a few issues finding an affordable hotel. beware some of the ones listed by elong and ctrip as they do NOT take foreigners, even the 3*.
I ended up spending the night at the International Hotel for 400RMB/night since that was the only thing available at 9:00 pm when i got there.

thanks... and damn'! Hoped the city had more affordable hotels.
400 rmb is the cheapest price they have in this hotel?

the cheapest i could find on short notice... keep in mind i was there early august and that's high tourist season for them. Xincheng (right next to huludao) wasn't much better in terms of prices..

should have gone down slightly in september
