logic tuition??
Hello everybody,
one of the things i've brought to beijing is logic express. however i have no clue how to use it beyond cutting and pasting the various samples that are availible.
i would really like somebody to help me learn to program drum beats, chop stuff up, make silly bass noises, etc etc.
i like drum and bass, dub step, hip hop of manmy flavours, lfo, bjork, dj shadow, and want to know how to start to put together those types of sounds/beats/edits.
not asking a lot, huh
so if anyone does know someone who can help, get in touch!
thanks,
timo

Your best bet is to grab the manual, stuff it in your bag and read it whenever you've got a few minutes (on the bus, train, taxi etc), there's no fast ticket to learning programs like Logic.
Almost invariably there will be questions to ask as you progress but if you are familiar with the layout of the manual, the learning process becomes easier and you can get on with making music as opposed to solving program problems.
Good luck!

Talking of shortcuts, there's a list of keyboard shortcuts in the book, labelling the keys with paper overlayered with sellotape will speed things up. Some shops also sell transparent plastic keyboard covers for labelling.
When you have the program set up, save a default template of settings and fx to save time when starting a new project.

There's a slight problem with the first question: 'A ~(B v C)' is not a well-formed expression. There needs to be a connective between A and ~(B v C). Suppose that the connective is 'v'. Then we want an assignment of truth vales on which 'A v ~(B v C)' is true but '(~A & ~B) v (C & B)' false.

Re: logic tuition??
I'm not terribly familiar with Logic, but there are a ton of useful guides and tutorials on the web, just Google something like "Logic dubstep tutorial" or something like that. Also maybe check Youtube for video tutorials, if you have a functional proxy - I used to do that a lot for FruityLoops before I figured out how to properly use it on my own.
Speaking of which - I know you already have Logic, but FruityLoops is (in my opinion) waaaay easier and more intuitive to use. I started using it about 8 years ago and have never wanted or needed to use anything else - it started out as a very bare-bones program and is now quite powerful, they've added a ton of features over the years.
Good luck!
