Why not an F visa instead? Though there will be no problem to get again an L visa. HK is almost the easiest place to get a China visa.

To apply for an F visa, you need to provide the official invitation letter issued by the authority.
When the new F visa is going to expire, it will be cheaper to extend it, compared with the conversion service (from L to F).

why not change your L visa into F visa ,you know L visa could extend twice only in china once a month ,but the F visa no limited,once 3 months at least ...we can change your L visa into F visa ,and no need you go outside of china .if you have questions or Encounter Emergency situation ,you can contact me ,we just handle a same case for a Kazakhstan yesterday.
