Biyang amplifiers?

Anyone have any experience with these amplifiers? I've checked out a bunch of different shops for the more well-known foreign brands (Fender, Marshall, etc) but pretty much all I've seen are those crappy little practice amps. There are a few bigger/nicer foreign ones, but they're rather expensive. The Biyang amps/effect pedals sound like they might be pretty decent, and have a reasonable price tag - anyone played through any of the Biyang stuff?

Re: Biyang amplifiers?

Anyone? There's gotta be more guitarists out there...I tried digging up some reviews online, but all I found were reviews for their pedals, nothing on the amps. Anybody played these?

Re: Biyang amplifiers?

Your best bet is add some more bucks and buy a lower end model with corners and a kick grill from a reputable manufacturer.

Imo based on the picture above.

The power switch/standby are metal toggle switches that are possibly linked to the chassis, a real "no no" especially as they have a tendency to work loose within the switch housing and don't handle impact or pressure well at all. If there's 110/220/240 going through that, I'd want to be wearing rubber gloves + wellies after switching it on and off a few times, especially as the faceplate also appears to be metallic.

This might explain why you can't find be any amp/combo reviews and the only reviews around are for pedals (which are low voltage) but even then, the power supplies are suspect.

Play safe!

Re: Biyang amplifiers?

Yikes, that's a good point, I didn't even notice the toggles on the other models I looked at. No wonder they're so cheap, probably some shoddy worksmanship going on in there too, thus why I asked. Guess I'll just have to shell out for a Fender/Marshall or something...I'd like to find an Orange around here, but I have a feeling that's going to be nigh-impossible.

re: internal stuff. Cheaper amps will often have the pots soldered onto the circuit board meaning there can be numerous problems, better gear won't.

2 examples off pcb pots.

Re: Biyang amplifiers?

in absence of fenders, biyang's sister company's "WANGS" amps are acceptable, i.m.o.

Re: Biyang amplifiers?

Amplifiers (power amp) are components which are commonly found in devices that use a speaker to produce sound. These have a variety of applications in other electronic equipments and instruments as well.
