BW film development in Beijing

Can you recommend a photo service to process B&W film? Actually I am interested in package of services [development + photos + scanning].

The photochance doesnt do chemical BW process, and the next door Wande does not scan, and the fella there is eager to make only single blow-ups. There must be another specialised shop in this city to make it all in one house!

Re: BW film development in Beijing

How many rolls and are we talking 135 or 120 format? I also do the odd roll of 126 as well. I use full strength and diluted D76 as well as DDX. I use kodak rapid fixer with the hardener added too - to fix.

I do my own developing at home and I also scan with a Nikon CoolScan 5000.

There is a place in Lan Bao that does some form of drum scanning too - but the service quality is not great from what I have heard (dust everywhere).

The photo lab next to Ya Show is also good (round the side near the coffee place - Jia Yi) and do BW real developing - but only straight D76. But they do also do push and pull processing without a problem too or without extra charge.

They also do good E6 processing, but their standard C41 stuff goes to a basic lab I think and they alwasy scratch stuff....

The problem in China - much like most of the world is that people run around with digital camera's, no idea about exposure or how colours are made and never learn to make good photos... so most industries that exist around real photogs that make actual good photos seems to dry up and become harder to access - even though film sales bounced up last year (have people awoken from the digital drug pushing scam yet?)...

Funny thing is though, that Beijing is better than Australia for real shooting! HK is the best of all. Great labs, cheaper film and real pro attitude towards serious image makers. Japan too.

For peach12:
I was speaking of 135 format, just thinking of start experiments with my Reflekta. Unfortunately do not have time to develop at home, and I never did it by myself. I would be interested anyway to learn from someone.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. May I ask to specify the info:
- do I understand right the first service is in Lan Bao building? Is there only one not to be missed?
- is the service next Yashow providing the scanning or not? If you know by chance the exact name and the address of this Lab, please let me know. Meanwhile I will try to find the shop and try to find by myself.

The one next to Ya Show (Down stairs to the west of the front gate) called Jia Yi does developing and scanning. They do a good job.
