Air Asia Suspends Tianjin Flights

Air asia posted this on their website on the 30th oct but forgot to contact anyone who had actually bought tickets. they told us this morning!! They say they will refund the tickets or change it to start in a different location. The nearest airport to Tianjin that they fly from is Hangzhou!! We also bought tickets with air asia from KL to Sabah but they won't refund these.

Don't fly with Air Asia. They are sh*t.

Notification: Cancellation of Tianjin flights from 23 Nov 2009 - 31 Jan 2010

A notification to all guests about our Tianjin flights. We regret to announce that we have to temporarily suspend our Tianjin services from 23 Nov 2009 to 31 January 2010 due to adverse winter conditions and very poor demand, making the flights unviable. We expect to resume services to Tianjin from 1 Feb 2010.

We are sure a lot of you will have some questions, and we hope with the answers below will provide enough information for now.

1.Why is the Tianjin flight suspended?
AirAsia is suspending the flight due to adverse weather conditions. This is our first foray into the Tianjin market and to consider the weather factor, we have decided to postpone the route until Februrary for closer monitoring.

2.Will this be temporary? If yes, when will the flight resume?
The management of AirAsia will be monitoring and reviewing the case. As of today, we have temporarily suspended flights between 23/11/09 and 31/1/2010. Flights are likely to resume anytime between the first half of next year pending assessment of the current situation.

3.How will AirAsia compensate the guests who are affected?
Affected passengers will be given a full refund.

4.How has the affected guests been notified of the suspension of the Kuala Lumpur- Tianjin route?
Guests have been notified via email, and sms notification has been carried out.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and we will keep everyone updated on this.
Thank you for your kind understanding.

Re: Air Asia Suspends Tianjin Flights

I almost booked a flight to KL with them for my family and I.

I had the flights all sorted, and when I went back to book, I got a message saying the flights I wanted were not available.

I presumed that meant they were full, but learned later it was because they were canceled.

I would have been so pissed off-like you-bastards!

Re: Air Asia Suspends Tianjin Flights

I did a trip from TJ to LK with them and I'll never do it again.
Shitty flight, shitty service and their agent didn't tell us about the extra charges for taking any baggage.
The ten hour stop over at KL was a shocker too. AirAsia don't use the normal international airport there. Instead they have another about 30km away from it, which they share with some domestic carriers. The terminal is basic and there's not a thing to do there.

Sometimes the same is different, but mostly, it's the same.

Re: Air Asia Suspends Tianjin Flights

I love Air Asia, I used them this October holiday in Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam. No problem what so ever. New planes and the service you get is what you would expect for the price you are paying.

That flights are cancelled and you are not informed is a problem with every airline, not an Air Asia specific problem.

Re: Air Asia Suspends Tianjin Flights

The flight suspensions, from what I heard, were due to a dispute between Air Asia and the Tianjin Airport. Basically, Tianjin wanted to slot them into some crappy time slots despite the fact that the airport is empty most of the day. They are back as of February now, and I will be taking them to KL, Colombo, and Hong Kong for a combined total of less than 4000 RMB per person round trip. I know people who booked way ahead in summer and got some insane deals.

I don't know why people are complaining about the baggage and layovers. It is stated pretty clearly that they charge extra when you are booking the tickets. If you are spending a week in KL, who needs to pack a 25 kg suitcase + carryons anyways? It's warm, wear some shorts. And there is a bus from the airport to downtown that costs something like 20 RMB.

I flew with them once last year, and they are a lot better than some of the people here make them out to be. They're certainly better than any Chinese airline I've flown despite being bargain-basement priced.

That's truly a pathetic attempt wiger.
If you had said 'Hank Freid licks my balls and has good flights and accommodation' it would've been more interesting and believable.

Sometimes the same is different, but mostly, it's the same.
