thats good to know, need to extend my L visa soon. Can this 3 months be done in person at PSB or only through agencies?

Also, how much do you need in the bank to be able to extend? i hear it was first 21,000rmb, which got raised to 26,000rmb. is it still that or back down to 21,000rmb?

Nooo, the 3 months extension only can be got trough agency.
The bank saving certificate is a provement that you can afford the travel in China. It is just need 21,000RMB, which is in the light of 700RMB for each day.

And please pay attension that if you have already extended your visa twice, you can not do L extension for another three months.
Three months is available for visa holders who have just arrived in China or have visa extended only once.

Yep, its a great news for L holders.
I saw bnjmnph was asking about the bank reference things, actually its counted $100 for each day u extend, thats why L extension of 1months ask $100*30days=$3000 which is about 21,ooormb. Like now, if you wanna extend 3months, it will be $100*90days=$9,000. But if you wanna agency to help you with the bank refernce, the cahrge from agency is the same as one month, what you need is just prepare you:
1. original passport;
2. one two-inch photo;
3. temporary residence certificate;
