Hey, this is to all those who have their xbox consoles modded...
I know, I know, we shouldnt have modded it, but, if you are reading this, it means you did it too, so Im just warning you before you get banned too.
I have not checked which is the latest version of Ixtreme firmware, but, if you can only play 3rd wave games and older, dont, never, not even for a second, connect to live! it doesnt matter if you play or not, if you tried to play a 4th wave game (all the new ones are 4th, happened to me with modern warfare 2) even if you were OFFLINE, at the moment you get online you will get banned! and, thats not the end of the story, now, they are going too far...
You will not be able to play online, you will not be able to connect to XBL (gold or silver) you will not be able to use your HDD to save or run games, you will not be able to use media center and your gamer tag will be corrupted, so, if you try to get gamerscore with backups, then, the day you try to connect using a different one, your gt will not work...
So, thats my sad story of today, I hope I can prevent some bans... just wait guys, go to your favorite shop and ask for an ixtreme update.
By the way... is someone interested in a banned xbox? ha ha

I've been connected to XBox-Live with MW2 and several other recent games.
Everything seemed fine up till last night at least.
I'll disconnected before turning it on later

I read real fast, so basically the only thing you can't do anymore with your Xbox is play online??? I don't give a f*** about this feature, if I can play offline games normally I'll buy it from you right away. PM me telling me a price if that's the case.

Hey there, the HDD isnt f***ed, the thing is that you will not be able to save the entire game into the HDD if you are using it in the banned console, I mean, everything I said, is regarding the banned console, if you get a new one, you will not have problems... about the corrupted gamer tag, Im sure, its not like you will not be able to use it in a different console, BUT, any achievements or "things" you get while playing on a banned console, will not show up when you play in a not-banned console, and, as far as I have read, its most likely to get banned too...

Where do you get ixtreme? None of the shops in yashow or dongsishitiao have it.
I think I saw it in xiushui, but at the time I had no idea what it was... haven't been back there lately.
One of the salespeople at yashow told me she could "upgrade my xbox software for me for 200 rmb." I almost believed that was the real price because she'd been so honest about other stuff up to that point. All part of her scam.....

mmmm... well, actually Ixtreme can be found on the net, just take some time for research, but you need to have some tools and basic computer knowledge to flash it yourself, if you dont have those, its much better to go with someone who can do it for you. 200 RMB doesnt sound to high, but I would try to lower it a little if I were you, and also it could be better because usually these guys have a heat gun (which is way faster that using a hair dryer) for taking out the warranty sticker without breaking it.
About the best place to go... Im not really shure, I would go to hong qiao market cause they usually have newer stuff than in xiu shui, but I think gulou dajie would be an option too... when I get a new one, Ill tell you where I went.

Yes, you need to open it, because you need to flash the firmware. I have never heard about a DVD that can do that, so if you buy it Im sure that:
1.- It will not work
2.- It might work offline
3.- It might do something else, but it will not change the firmware

Hmmm.... so maybe it just lets you play 4th gen games offline. Because this guy said that just bought a dvd (which I've seen before) and then he could play the new CoD game. But probably not online. Which I guess is fine for me, I don't even have Xbox Live.
Out of curiosity, when did the 4th wave of games start?

About the 4th wave games, Im not sure, dig it on the net, Im sure you can find a list of games which are 4th wave... but my guess, is that those are the ones coming since november, cause brutal legend's 3rd and it came out before COD

Was just some random friend-of-a-friend I met during a big dinner. I assume he had no reason to lie to me.
I'm also not sure why certain shops would bother making software upgrade DVDs that they sell for 10 kuai max if they could be charging 200+ to upgrade it themselves.
Good to know brutal legend's 3rd gen.... I bought it but assumed I couldn't play it till I upgraded.... I know some monsters who are about to get jack black'd. Or something. What's that game about again?

The ban is for all versions of Ixtreme, so, dont bother to go and ask for an update... if you just play offline, keep it that way. The exact reason of the ban is still unknown, but, the most common cases are of people playing Modern Warfare 2 online or offline, and people playing ANY other online.
C4eva is working on the new firmware, it will be called Ixtreme LT, but there is no ETA at this time... so, I would recommend that you stay offline until its realesed.

Well, the reason for the bans is having a modded fw, thats it, any version you have, you will be banned, so stay offline.
As wefrucar said, its true, there is a DVD that you can buy/download to "upgrade" your fw, but it really isnt an upgrade, its just one shot boot disc for consoles that doesnt have the latest ixtreme (1.61), this means that anytime you want to play a 4th wave game, you have to boot the console with that dvd and then you can insert the game disc... it will play, but, you will get banned.
So, if anyone is interested in my console, I will sell it until ixtreme LT is released.

So if I understand correctly, the two choices available right now for playing 4th gen games are:
1. Pay someone to flash your system. You still can't play online.
2. Buy a disk and use it every time you play a new game. You still can't play online.
I'm gonna try to buy the ixtreme dvd today after work, I'll report how well it works if I end up finding it.

Alright, went to xiushui and found the disc, but had to check 4 stalls.
There were two version: One called "ixtreme 1.6," one called "wave 4."
She assured me that what I wanted was the wave 4, which was newer and easy to use, unlike 1.6 which is complicated and requires use of your pc or something.
I bought it and brought it home, when I put it in, my xbox read it as a dvd -_-
So no luck there. Guess I'll have to bite teh bullet and cough up some dough to get it professionally flashed.....

As far as I know, its supposed to be read as a dvd, after you play it, you can boot the 4th wave game... Im just saying what I have heard around, I have not used it.

About the firmware version, the easiest thing to do (I think, I might be wrong), is to ask the guy/girl to try it with a 4th wave game (ex. Modern Warfare 2), if it works, then it has the latest firmware which is ixtreme 1.61... but as you might know for all the posts in here, do not connect to live because you will get banned, even if you dont play/download anything, at the moment you connect, youll get banned.
About the price, I have no idea, the arcade in the US is 199 USD right now, so I think you should find it cheaper, but I dont know how cheaper... anyway, if you find a good deal, let me know!

Like Medina says...you need to read it as a dvd first.
Then, while it's still running as a dvd....open the tray and pop in the game.
It will go back to the dashboard obviously, but this time it will read the games.

Nope....
I put the software dvd in, it gave a message saying "to play this disc, put it into an xbox 360 console."
Then I opened the tray and popped in batman.... still didn't work. Tried a couple other 4gen games too.

I'm guessing that for some reason, this dvd was made to be read by slightly newer flashware than I have.
Maybe what I really needed was that ixtreme 1.6 that she claimed was really complicated to use.

Or at least I don't need the boot disk to play it.
Neither does anyone else I know.
You may be better off getting the firmware upgraded.

wtf, my 360 sucks so much. It doesn't play *any* games that have come out in the past few months, I was just hoping they were all wave 4. I have this huge backlog of games I'm waiting to try....
Luckily, the guy I bought it from sold his shop a few weeks later -_-.
Well, some girl in yashow offered to upgrade it for 200 (can probably get that lower) and if the games still didn't play after that it'd be free, so I guess that's as good as anything...
