Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Well, it is that time of the year again, my visa is expiring Jan 1st and I thought I was all good to go until the guy that was handling it in the past said this time I need to go to HK to get my passport stamped and then when I get back he can get me a one year F visa. So, the visa is expensive enough, I am not looking to spend 3000 or 4000 just to get my passport stamped! Is there a cheap way anyone know of to get to HK and back? Train is how much? Anyone have to make this trip just to get their visa renewed? He was telling me 7800 for the one year visa, that seems very expensive, then after a trip to HK we are looking at over 10,000 for a f#@king visa! any ideas? got to be a cheaper way.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Plane's 2000 round trip. Train's 1000.

If all you need is a stamp in your passport, go to Luohu, Shenzhen border crossing. Plane tickets cheaper that way.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

I guess all I need is a stamp that shows I left the mainland, I have a F visa that does not expire until Jan 1st so I don't need to get visa in HK, he just said I need to leave.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Yeah so do Luohu, Shenzhen. It's just across the river from HK. Should be in and out within an hour. Or try Mongolia, it's closer.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

The train can be as low as 600 or less one-way, but not that comfy.

A lot of Chinese men farting with stinky socks.

ya last i read about that trip it was only like 350 return or something.. sleeper bus, cold sh*t hole mongolian cowboy town, but cheap.

Trust me, it's so danger.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

so is your current visa double or multiple entry? if one entry visa and you go to LuoHu, then cross to HK, you will have no entry back into china. only option then is short term visa from HK into china.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Hi,

Where are these 2000 RMB round trip tickets? What website? Also, for a train ticket...1000RMB? Really, what station?

Thanks for your help.

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talking... you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the f*** do you think you're talking to? Oh yeah? OK.

On a more serious note, for plane, pretty much any site. This one, for example:

http://www.bjkljp.com/ has one-way Beijing-Shenzhen 700rmb.

For train, any of the stations (Beijing, or Beijing West)

Good luck

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Last May I went to Shenzhen from here, I got a flight ticket of 490RMB or 530RMB, and when I returned in June, it was 490RMB.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Unless there has been some recent changes the BJ-HK train is from Beijing West station only, not the Beijing Station.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Hey Andrew, I got my 1900rmb round trip tickets in Dongzhimen at some travel agency, and the tickets were to Shenzhen, then took bus for about 25 minutes to Hong Kong.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

ctrip.com has been cheapest for domestic and Asia travel originating in China every time I've looked, so I never bother looking elsewhere anymore.

Fly to SZ and take public transit if you need to go to HK.

If you just need an exit stamp, fly to Seoul.

If you have to go to HK, why would you also have to pay an agent in Beijing? Get your visa legitimately while in HK for ~300 RMB (or ~1000 if you're american)

To get an F visa, you need a letter of invitation, for which you should have any friend at a local company write and stamp for you. The agents have their uses, but paying thousands for a fake letter of invitation is ridiculous.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

Re: HK trip.

Look, trains are only 250-300 one way if you get seating/standing room to Shenzhen. A hard slog, but you wanted cheap, you got it. They leave twice daily from Beijing West, look into it.

Re: Cheap way to Hong Kong?

If you are finding cheaper then you should try train and if you are finding less time consuming so you should try plain.
