Is it okay to be "gay" in Beijing? Newbie here.

I came from a country where it's quite okay to be gay. I could date with another guy in a mall and that's okay. I'm just wondering if I could do the same thing here in Beijing!wehehe

Welcome to Beijing and welcome to the Forum.

I'll be leaving Beijing soon so this Forum will need a new token gay member.

In Beijing, there is an active gay scene, but it is best to be discreet. But it's not Saudi Arabia either, you're not going to go to jail for being gay here

Destination is where all the queers go to dance and/or hook up. Just watch out for KZ, he gets a bit grabby after a couple beers.

DESTINATION is the big gay club in the city, although not sure if you will meet any "interesting guys" there though. Watch out for the MONEY BOYS! And of course your random closeted forum member B)

There's a poster named Sciency. You can ask him. He knows every square meter of that bar. He'll introduce you. He can be a little annoying when he tries to write poetry, but he's a very sensitive guy.

I have two good ladyboy friends who are always around 3.3 on the weekend. They tell me that most chinese think they're BT for crossdressing but when they're not... dressed up, people are generally accepting of them being gay.

But being China, who knows what's said behind their back?

Destination is at 7 Gongti Xilu, opposite workers stadium west, down the road of where Bobomee is. I went to Babyface this weekend (cough Nomadz where the hell are you) and met 4 VERY INTERESTING (probably the most funniest Chinese gay guys I've seen) when I was eating ma-la-tang outside of Gongti Xi Lu. They said they always hang out at Destination, and it's filled with gays and lesbians.

Seriously tho, they were really, really cool and funny to talk to, I almost wanted to turn gay just for them.
