Guinea Pigs
I'm thinking about getting two little cute guinea pigs. I used to keep them some years ago, and ever since I really miss their happy eek eek
So, does anybody here also have guinea pigs and could give me some advice about where to get healthy pets? I often hear to avoid pet shops and those in the bigger markets as well, too. However I haven't found any breeder or reliable pet shop so far. In addition, I hardly find information at all, since everybody here seems to keep cats or dogs...
Any ideas?

I don't understand the advice you got. You need to check them out for yourself.
Are you sure those were "happy eek eeks" you were hearing?

Re: Guinea Pigs
I've always found guinea pigs to be a little snug and uncomfortable. Hamsters and gerbils work better.

Re: Guinea Pigs
I used to have a guinea pig when I was a kid. Cute pet.
There are some pet shops on Dong Zhi Men Nei, near Nan Luo Gu Xiang, that sell rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, etc....

They are fun to play with, but they bite. I had some when i was a kid.

Another thing to consider is, that you will probably have to make due without any vet care.
When my sister's guinea pig became ill, when I was taking care of it, it took me 3 days to find a vet clinic that treats guinea pigs. After going there and receiving some medication, I realized, that the medication was not suitable for guinea pigs. The main ingredient was in fact no. 1 on the list of toxic substances for guinea pigs (which I had confirmed by a vet from the US, by the way).
About finding a guinea pig breeder, I really have no idea. I doubt that it would be easy to find....
