If you can get some french friends who are generous enough to let you taste foie gras... then keep those friends . Otherwise and if you're cheap, start with pâté.
Also, dried salami.
And good cheese; really good cheese.
Maybe a nice little quiche lorraine...
Damnit I miss french food.
As for making stuff.... traditionally, a lot of western cuisine requires the use of an oven, which I doubt you have. Those toaster ovens are acceptable for smaller dishes, but still not really ideal.
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
It's like a mantou (but flatter) with a hole in the middle (no, it's not a donut).
Wery haochi, especially when toasted and spread with cream cheese.

Thanks, taoqibao and wefrucar. Do you eat lasagna with a spoon or a fork?
The best way imo is with a knife and spoon. Annie's makes a pretty decent lasagna, but you could probably make your own with a mini-oven and some ingredients from april gourmet.
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.
So wefrucar eats lasagna with knife & spoon and iztel eats it with fork & knife.
@iztel
You used kuaizi. I was joking. My great sense of humor was ruined.
@wefrucar
The lasagna in Annie's was too soft to cut. I only forked it. Other lasagnas I ate were harder. Once I used knife and fork, but it was so inconvenient.
No I got your joke I've just never seen lasagna like you mentioned. Sounds disgusting, they must have either used too much sauce or boiled the pasta too long. I wouldn't recommend eating there. Good lasagna should be soft enough to cut with a fork but firm enough not to fall apart when you do it. The knife helps keep it together and useful to push sauce on your fork.
Try risotto, simple and good, in my opinion, you'd better use Thai rice to cook it.
You can make a shrimp risotto, i cook that all the time with some frozen shrimp you can buy anywhere...
If you are a desert fan, Tiramisu is a good idea, you don't need any special cooking instruments and it is funny to do.
You can also cook some roast salmon, it is very easy to find here.
But a vegemite and peanut butter sandwich? Now that's just heaven! And with sardines? Ooh baby!
