Converting L to F Visa in Beijing?

Hi,

I am a Canadian, looking to convert my L visa to an F visa. So far I have been told different things about doing so:

1. Some people have said that it is not possible to convert my L visa to an F visa;

2. some say that I will have to leave Beijing first, get an invitation letter and then apply for an F visa, and then return to Beijing; and

3. other people have said that it is possible to change an L to an F visa without having to leave Beijing, for the price of around 6,000-7,000 rmb.

In addition, I have been told that if I want to extend my visa, I can do so for the cost of about 160rmb...if I open up a chinese bank account with a mimimum of 6,000 USD deposit.

Obviously, none of the above options are desirable, and I was wondering if anyone knows any other options?

Hello jpia,

the policy is so strict in beijing at the moment,but you can go to another city without leaving china ,as we have an office there ,and by the way ,when will your L visa expire?

from what you have mentioned above , all options are quite right, you can choose any of them,but the price of convertion is not so expensive,5000 or so.
you can choose any one of them,but just pay attention to your expired date.

Hi jpia,

Here is the explanation to your questions:

1. it is possbile to chang L to F, but ul have to meet the requirements, leave 15-20days ahead of expire date, if its less than 15days then extend L first b4 change it to F;

2. with F invitation letter to apply for F in HK is the way to get F visa outside China mainland, can b another solution of you and get it extended in mainland later when ur back from HK;

3. for price of L-F, its up to if ur gonna change L to a 3/6months F and where u have it done;

I think if you dont like any of the solutions above, another one for you is extend your L first, L can be extended to 3months directly now, n later when ur ready to go out, u can apply for F or maybe a Z visa if you have a job.
