The idea is to make a website where musicians could:
1. Register their band/act
2. Post ads (looking for..)
But I bet around 2,000 laowai hippies already had this idea before.
So why isn't there one? Not enough foreign bands/musicians in town? Or maybe there is one but I don't know about it?
It's better to be nice, kind, generous, friendly, helpful, sexy and rich than to be obnoxious, scary, stinky, stingy, lonely and poor.

closest thing i guess would be douban in China... Rockinchina maintains a good database but it's genre specific, not too broad!

Correct, although I made some great contacts on there.
I reckon Schizo should go ahead with it.... there's a whole myriad of topics that aren't covered on the other sites.
If users had a little info under their avatar it would help

While filling out your details, more information will mean more contacts and help others to find or contact you... etc
Adds for gigs, venues and music shops/sites would be a good way to generate revenue and also link people back to your site.
