BC MOMA

Hiya,

Does anybody know what's going on with the supposed 'art house' cinema at MOMA? I cannot find any useful information in English about it. Even the Beijinger's directory listing gives a (seemingly) incorrect webpage.

I can find news articles about it (e.g. here and here), but nothing useful like a schedule.

I'm a little worried after reading that it's showing Avatar......

Re: BC MOMA

I can tell you because I've just been. It's a three screen cinema showing a mix of art house and commercial films (hence avatar).

The website is still under construction but you can join their mailing list and have the programme emailed out to you (but you'd have to go first I guess...). ths week they're showing films about love, including the splendid In The Mood For Love. Next month they have a Xie Jin retrospective and a couple of films in their new chinese filmmakers series.

They have a cafe next door and a small cafe inside and a library, which for a 200 kuai deposit allows you to borrow films and film books.

It's a lovely place.

Re: BC MOMA

Hi dr.mcsmith,

They've taken a while to get their act together, but they seem to be getting into the swing of things now. See these recent posts on the Beijinger blog:

http://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2010/03/04/A-Film-Master-on-the-Big-Scr...

http://www.thebeijinger.com/blog/2010/02/26/Screen-Time-Homoerotic-Sherl...

Keep an eye on the Beijinger blog as we'll be regularly posting about their screenings.

Cheers,

Dan Edwards
