DAMBUSTERS MARCH

Re: Please post what you consider to be a legendary music ...

Come on mods, delete that, it's just lame, and this post, let's show Shanghaiexpat that their forum is second best and we can attract more Shanghai expats here, just like Otto.

Well, let's face it Shanghai is a lame city (compared to Beijing), so it is no surprise that their expat forum would be lame and their expats who choose to live there are lame too, especially the ones who choose to "live" on this forum yet they live in the lame city.

Do you live in Shanghai, Dr Raghead?

Do you know Otto?

Delete what? you can't go running to the moderators because someone likes different music. The Dambusters March has a great video with explosions,Lancaster bombers and action,be quiet you cry babby.

Or do you still have that obsession with blowing my Dad?

Re: Please post what you consider to be a legendary music ...

"In Between Days" - The Cure.
Following a few years of internal and external turmoil, combined with a rather uncertain musical identity, the Cure returned to form nicely with this 1985 record, arguably the one that began to introduce the band to a now rather-welcoming early alternative rock scene. With this vibrant, nearly jaunty tune, Smith began to introduce a rather positive romantic ebullience to the Cure's music, and the group's growing band of listeners were most certainly the beneficiaries. The combination of synth and chiming guitars has rarely been executed this hauntingly or compellingly, and the song became an early entry in the Cure's "commercial" phase.

I love this Cure song supposed to be a sad song but I find it so uplifting as the band were back to their very best and in a celebratory mood.

Wow, another classic by Jim - The End, probably my favourite song of all time.

George Strait - Troubadour
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMzg5MjYzODA=.html

George Strait - Troubadour Lyrics
I still feel 25,
most of the time.
I still raise a little cain with the boys.
Honky tonks and pretty women.
Lord I'm still right there with them.
Singing above the crowd and the noise.

(Chorus)
Sometimes I feel like Jesse James,
Still trying to make a name,
Knowin' nothing's gonna change what I am.
I was a young troubadour,
When I rode in on a song,
And I'll be an old troubadour,
When I'm gone.

Well, the truth about a mirror,
Is that a damned old mirror,
Don't really tell the whole truth.
It don't show what's deep inside.
Oh read between the lines,
And it's really no reflection of my youth.

(Repeat Chorus)

I was a young troubadour,
When I rode in on a song.
And I'll be an old troubadour,
When I'm gone.
I'll be an old troubadour,
When I'm gone.

Yeah, that's not strictly a music video, it's just a studio performance. A pretty dull one at that. They didn't make too many music videos in the sixties.

Not a bad one from Talking Heads.

I was trying to get Sax and Violins and Take Me To The River live which are awesome but can't locate it.

The only Kiwi one I can locate, but quite a nice one, How Bizarre, made it to number one in a few countries and got them to Top of the Pops in England.

Lyrics

Here we stand
Like an Adam and an Eve
Waterfalls
The Garden of Eden
Two fools in love
So beautiful and strong
The birds in the trees
Are smiling upon them
From the age of the dinosaurs
Cars have run on gasoline
Where, where have they gone?
Now, it's nothing but flowers

There was a factory
Now there are mountains and rivers
you got it, you got it

We caught a rattlesnake
Now we got something for dinner
we got it, we got it

There was a shopping mall
Now it's all covered with flowers
you've got it, you've got it

If this is paradise
I wish I had a lawnmower
you've got it, you've got it

Years ago
I was an angry young man
I'd pretend
That I was a billboard
Standing tall
By the side of the road
I fell in love
With a beautiful highway
This used to be real estate
Now it's only fields and trees
Where, where is the town
Now, it's nothing but flowers
The highways and cars
Were sacrificed for agriculture
I thought that we'd start over
But I guess I was wrong

Once there were parking lots
Now it's a peaceful oasis
you got it, you got it

This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
you got it, you got it

I miss the honky tonks,
Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
you got it, you got it

And as things fell apart
Nobody paid much attention
you got it, you got it

I dream of cherry pies,
Candy bars, and chocolate chip cookies
you got it, you got it

We used to microwave
Now we just eat nuts and berries
you got it, you got it

This was a discount store,
Now it's turned into a cornfield
you got it, you got it

Don't leave me stranded here
I can't get used to this lifestyle

lyrics

"Sitting, Waiting, Wishing"

Now I was sitting waiting wishing
That you believed in superstitions
Then maybe you'd see the signs
But Lord knows that this world is cruel
And I ain't the Lord, no I'm just a fool
Learning loving somebody don't make them love you

Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?

I sing ya songs I dance a dance
I gave ya friends all a chance
Putting up with them wasn't worth never having you
And maybe you been through this before
But its my first time
So please ignore
The next few lines cause they're directed at you

I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool
I keep playing your part
But its not my scene
Wont this plot not twist?
I've had enough mystery.
Keep building me up, then shooting me down
Well im already down
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting
Just wait a minute
Just sitting waiting

Well if I was in your position
Id put down all my ammunition
I'd wondered why'd it taken me so long
But Lord knows that I'm not you
And If I was I wouldn't be so cruel
Cause waiting on love ain't so easy to do

Must I always be waiting waiting on you?
Must I always be playing playing your fool?
No I cant always be waiting waiting on you
I cant always be playing playing your fool, foool

This is not the best song from the album, but the album was truly one of the best the 80's had to offer.
