I thought dentists were supposed to be cheap in China. One of my brothers is one in New Zealand.

Dr. Eddy at Bayley & Jackson is worth that much. He has another five dental clinics in HK.

After seeing so many dental/orthodontic recommendations and having thought about getting my teeth fixed my whole life, I am glad to have made the right decision in approaching Dr. Jaclyn Dam-Laute at IDC Dental in Winterless Center in Dawanglu.

Professional team, very hygienic place, speaks fantastic English, warm and welcoming, VERY competitive prices and best of all, HONEST. It's the first time I've encountered such a service in Beijing after having lived here for 4 yrs. And that's saying a lot because I have been in the service industry most of my working life.

I've always been afraid to see the dentist but Dr. Jaclyn and her team turned around that fear. I am always looking forward to my next visit (especially my bonding day).

PS. Badr, I also approached King's but had to pay for registration fee as well as consultation fee and x-ray fees. At IDC, I didn't pay anything during my first visit when they learned that I already went to King's for initial consultation. But they still did all the nine yards for me as if I was doing consultation w/ a dentist for the very first time. I was amazed!

Also, for those considering having braces, they have free consultation on going the whole month until JUN, I believe. Then, if you wanna proceed w/ it, you can also get 20% discount because they just got recently certified as a Progressive Ortho Clinic, the first and only one in China.

Oh, and they have VERY flexible payment terms.

I have a major phobia of dentists ever since having a facial nerve severed during a wisdom tooth extraction, leading to permanent numbness.

It was with great trepidation that I finally bit the bullet and made a long-overdue appointment, and chose Dr Dam-Laute at IDC.

Here it is, in a nutshell

-- SUPER super clean (and that includes waiting room, exam rooms, bathroom)
-- English-speaking (from California)
-- Professional attitude
-- Efficient, timely, chatty without being overbearing
-- Non-judgmental

Not exactly cheap -- my appointment, x-rays and cleaning was RMB 1000 and I've been advised that a crown that I need would cost RMB 5000.

Perhaps most comforting of all was that the people at IDC aren't pushy -- they said I could get cheaper treatment with junior dentists, and even recommended other competent practices I could go to -- that sort of attitude makes me quite confident that they know what they are doing and are not so insecure that they are afraid I'd go somewhere else.

Open, honest, competent, professional, clean ... I'm almost afraid to post this for fear I'll never be able to schedule an appointment again!
