Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Old Rafa is still hanging in there! Could it be they have to sell Torres first so they can afford to buy out his Rafa's contract?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

And yet another last minute draw. 4th place looks like a difficult target. One bad season doesn't make him a bad manager, but in today's world some clubs are more than happy to sack managers for less.

I don't deny what you say.

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Oooh, I wonder why you started this thread. Why not start one about Phil Brown, or Mark Hughes before he got the chop?

Truth is, it doesn't rile me, as I predicted the exact same thing at the beginning of the season, so, as always, you're months late. I predicted both Benitez and Torres would leave before the end of the season.

But, I think I may be wrong. If he was going to get the boot, he'd have gone far sooner than now. There have been plenty of opportunities to sack him this season, but he's still holding tight, and apart from rubbish results in the (meaningless) FA Cup, and a shoddy show in the European Cup, we've only lost two games in the league since the beginning of November. I think man Utd have lost more in the same time-frame.

I think he's here until at least the end of the season. What happens then is anybody's guess. If we're not in the top four, which is looking ever more unlikely, I can't see Torres staying, although he does seem to have developed an affinity for the club. Unfortunately, the lure of Real Madrid might prove too tempting for Stevie as he approaches his last few years in the game.

I'd like to see the shite that we have in our team jettisoned, there are too many mid-table-at-best players in our team at the moment.

I'd like to keep Stevie, Torres, Kuyt, Reina, Benayoun and perhaps Agger and Aurelio and just get rid of the rest and start again. That includes Mascherano unfortunately, who looks lacklustre at best this season. We need big name signings, not crocked Italian fringe players and Spanish guanxi crap that we've been signing.

Whether Benitez stays or goes is unimportant, he doesn't seem to be a good man-manager, and that's perhaps his downfall. It'd be nice to see him turn things around, but I won't lose any sleep if he does the off. He won't resign, he'll be fired, and for the moment, the yanks are scared of incurring the wrath of the fans, who already despise them. Personally, I'd like to see Mourinho at Liverpool, but he's probably being groomed for the Man Utd position when purple-faced Lord Wrigley shuffles off.

On another note, have a watch of this, wonder who it's supposed to be:

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

You are getting as bad as RB used to be little Alex... all threads are directed at you personally.
It's a shame to see Liverpool languishing where they are, over the years I have enjoyed their expansive style of play.
Something is seriously wrong and I am not sure all the blame can be laid at Rafa's door, though the simplest and usual solution is to fire the manager. We do not know what restrictions he is labouring under. For my part, and I don't claim to be the expert you do, I feel his player purchases seem to have been too concentrated on Spanish. But what the hell do I know?
My facetious remarks were more aimed at the yankee crooks who currently control Liverpool and their mountain of debt. United are in a similar way as are many other English clubs which I personally find sad and wonder how these pirates managed to hijack so many fine clubs. What were the fans doing?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Yeah well brace yourselves, you limey twats.

I hear a yanks about to fully own Arsenal.

Thoughts?

And will you be wanting ballpark mustard on your hot dog?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Oh I don't know why I thought it was directed at me. maybe it's your constant ankle-biting sniping at Liverpool in order to get a rise out of me.

You clearly have nothing to say on the matter, so it's a mystery to me why you opened a thread when you have no knowledge of the topic, like you say.

Anyway, Liverpool are having the worst season they've had for years, and yes, Benitez is partially to blame. Why on earth he perseveres with f-ing Lucas is beyond me. He's the biggest pile of shite I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. His mismanagement of top-class players like Bellamy, Keane, Alonso, Pennant and Crouch has been to the obvious detriment of the club. His astoundingly ridiculous signings have been baffling and infuriating.

You could argue it's all the Yanks' fault, they are evil and are destroying great English clubs, but it was Benitez who signed all those crap players, it was Benitez who used Alonso as bait to get a far inferior player, Gareth Barry, it was Benitez who failed to man-manage all those potentially great players. Yet the fans are still behind him, but the patience is wearing thin. It would be disatrous if we finished anywhere lower than fourth.

And that's going to happen. We have no cover for Torres and Gerrard, and they've both been injured for long spells this season, Torres will be out for another six weeks after the Reading debacle. Having no cover for your star players is bad management, and their absence makes us look like a mid-table team.

I don't know the answer, because building a new team with a new manager takes a long time. This season's f***ed, and probably next season as well, incredible after last season's heroics, but there you go. It's easy to lay all tha blame at the yanks' door, but the manager's got to take some stick for the awful decisions he's made, and the players' confidence is at an all-time low.

I couldn't give a flying f*** about who destroys Arsenal or any other team except Liverpool. Go on, transfer your billions of dollars of debt on to the preening, cheating little shits.

Have you forgotten that kiwuk isn't English?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Rafa should indeed concentrate on getting the team back to winning ways, really talk to the players and kick out some of the dead wood. Leave the ranting to others. Babel looks to be on the way out and still not being tried as a real striker. He can't be that worse than Ngog. Still undecided on the youngsters' ability for the Premiership. Maxi didn't make any impression when he came on during the last few minutes, but Stoke's direct play was always going to mean lesser involvement from him.

I was hoping Martin O'Neil would be among the candidates for the replacement of Houllier. I always believed he would be a more than decent manager at LFC. Mourinho is unlikely to want the job. I think Hiddink wouldn't be so good in the long run.

Of the top teams I've always enjoyed Arsene Wenger's playing style even if they haven't won much lately. Rafa is too defensive minded.

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Liverpool had by far the best goal difference last season and scored the most goals by about 10 goals if memory serves. The last couple of seasons have seen a more exciting Liverpool team.

That's the problem, seabreeze, I don't think Rafa's a very good communicator. I remember Carragher saying that in all the time he's been there, he's never had a conversation with him outside footballing matters. That's a bad thing. Of course he should be focussed on football, but he has to be there for them as people. His inability to talk to players has cost us some great players.

Mourinho is a possibility, he always had a lot to say about/against Liverpool and Liverpool mainly. There was a grudging respect there, I think he'd love the chance to manage Liverpool, but as I say, he'd probably go for Man Utd.

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

Poor little Alex,

the irony is that I actually agree with many of the things you say. Do not mistake self deprecatory remarks for actual ignorance, as an Eng. Lit. graduate I might have expected a better understanding of irony but then you are a northerner, so you claim and wit, irony, and subtlety are most likely lost on you.

You continue to be blinded by your partisan loyalties and rail against all and sundry , in this case Arsenal, a team I have no love for as a Chelsea and Spurs follower but do respect for their style of play and player development. But of course you will say that is because their manager is a fellow countryman? C'est ne pas?
A fiction you persist in because you believe it irks me...as I have explained before I would rather be called French than scouse or just about anywhere north of Luton, excluding Scotland.

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

I'm not interested in arguing with you, kiwuk.

If you've got something to say on the thread you opened, say it.

Otherwise, give it a rest, eh?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

You are not interested in arguing so you make insulting comments and sweeping statements...yeah right.

When you are exposed for the shallow individual you are you run for cover.
You have no arguments only abuse and fiction.

Are you going to offer any opinions on your topic or attack me for no reason?

What? Noncesense.

Why are you hell-bent on arguing in every thread you enter?

Re: Rafas days numbered at Liverpool.

You entered my thread on the attack as you do in most threads.

You are so eager to flame and spout your own nonsense you don't bother to read the OP.

Noncesense. Is this some kind of typically obscure northern attempt at wit?
