Is it right to say that this building has ten classrooms in it?
Hi!
I found this sentence (This building has ten classrooms in it.)in a teaching material for pupils. As everybody knows, we usually use "there be" sentence structure when expressing the similar meaning, that is, there are ten classrooms in this building.
But I heard the teaching material had been examined and verified by English native teachers.
Would you please tell me if it is right or not?
Thanks a lot!

Sounds fine.
For any sentence in English, there are half a dozen ways to re-write it using different grammar structures, all still correct (but generally with ever-so-slightly different meanings). Don't clutch to one rule too tightly.
Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.

If in oral English, both the above are OK. But if in teaching materials, I don't think they are OK any more.

English learners pay too much attention to grammar rules.
Throw your rules books out the window of your ten classroom building and just speak.
This post has thirty two words in it.
Sometimes the same is different, but mostly, it's the same.

I got it. Thanks so much!
It's true we English learners always pay too much attention to grammer rules, but as you know, most of us have little chance to communicate with native speakers frequently, so we don't know the way modern native speakers usually express themselves. Just as foreigners learning Chinese at home, if they don't talk with Chinese, they will not know what they learned from books have not been used by Chinese for a long time. If we, as you suggested, give up those grammar rules, we may speak and write English with Chinese sentence structures, which will be more difficult for you foreigners to understand. Don't you think so? So, please understand.
