How to extend my visa? sorry about last post wrong info about my visa

Hi everyone
sorry for posting again, but i meant that i have a student visa. whatever letter that is i dont really know. F or X or whatever. it is a student 180 days single entry. now its expiring soon and i just want to know how to extend it. where do i go? where do i apply? should i extend my student visa through a random school or try to switch to a tourist visa? and what should i avoid? like maybe agencies that charge a fee? or is that the way to do it?
Again sorry for posting again but really appreciate the help.

If you're still enrolled at the school that you got your original X (student) visa from then just have them extend it.
If you're not enrolled anywhere then you've got a bit of a problem. You'll have to enroll somewhere to get another X visa.
Also - switching from an X to an L (tourist) visa is difficult if not impossible although the switch from an X to an F (business) visa might be doable.
If not of that works and you're still keen on staying in China then the most convenient thing to do is a take a short trip to Hong Kong, get a 30 day L visa, come back to Beijing and switch that to an 6 or 12 month F visa with the help of an agent (be prepared to fork out a few thousand RMB for the service though).
