The Limits of Control
Anybody seen this one? I got it on DVD. It's an intriguing flick, until it ends and you sudfdenly realize you know even less about what's happening at the end than the beginning. Did I miss something by being straight and sober when I saw it?

That's the problem: like a long, pointless joke it holds the attention till you realize there is no point. The deconstructionists have taught us that the "real" story is the one the reader reads into the text. It's led to a lot of sloppy books, films, and thinking. Since the reader/viewer is the final arbiter of meaning, the "artist" can spew any sloppy sh*t and hopes some fine interpretation gets attached to it.
