There's nothing more fake than someone putting on a perceived accent and it makes the speaker look fake as a person.

You'll probably pick up some form of a british accent simply by living there. Why do you need to start faking it beforehand? No one there will care if your accent is Chinese, American or Chinese-British. They will be annoyed if it sounds like you're trying to force a british accent, though.

Actually, I think you'll find that the American accent is way gayer.

There is no such thing as the 'British accent' anyway. I think youy're just thinking of the Hugh Grant type thing. Which probably 1% of people speak like.
